Let me say this sight has already given me some useful knowledge.

I'm considering opening a new tanning salon. I'd be new to the business with minimal knowledge on how to start. How should I go about figuring out how many beds to purchase, what additional equipment do I need to purcahse to run the business and how big of a salon to open? I think the average store size I'm looking to rent is anywhere from 1000 to 2000 square ft. Is this big enough? Also, what amount of startup cash is sufficient to start with? Any help is greatly appreciate. Thanks.

As I am new here as well I won't try and come across as having all the answers. I will however say the most important thing I have learned in regards to your questions....get the demographics for your area. Once you know how many people are in a 3 - 5 mile radius you can go from there.

and don't forget, as with any business, have plenty of money set aside to support yourself for a few months or more. if you don't have to use it, great, but don't expect to just start up and get a great check every week in the very beginning, especialy if you have employees. GOOD LUCK!!

From my personal experience, what ever amount you decide you will need. . . double it and you will be close. As cocotan stated, check the demographics for your area, and how many salons in that area that will help you know if there is a true need for a tanning salon and what size salon is needed.
