I am looking for a new career and I want to open up a tanning salon, I have no experience in opening a new business or anything. Can anyone help me get started or can give me information on how to get started and what I need to do??? Thank you

I can say, if you're in it for the money, you must have money to invest, if you do have it to begin with, than why are you doing it.You must love it. You can't get started w/o having at least worked at a salon. I quit my near 6 figure job doing landscaping design, for the less stressful job of looking at @55 all day. If i was trying to get rich, I'd be working my (jane's man) in the dirt. Yes, itsa great industry, if you love it, but don't try to "get rich quick" sittin on your butt.

Don't let the other scare you off, however before you think about buying an existing business versus opening up a brand new business: Take a class in basic business before you begin, get the information about ownership, management, laws, taxes, etc. before you open shop. A tanning salon is not some simple place to be micro-managed where you get to do your nails, sit on your butt, and talk all day to the happy customers or the overly pushy telemarketers. It's a business like any other. It's also not some dream business that will magically become a cash cow simply because of your glowing personality. The statistics for tanning salons right now are very scary, and you might be better off financially opening up a public laundrymat instead if you are in a area that is saturated with tanning salons. Otherwise, do you homework, check the demographics, see if your customer base in the area you want to open in has about $60 K in disposable cash and that they are into the lifestyle for tanning. If not,.... oh well.
