Individual Dealers (not corp run stores ) have rarely met the margin we used to 1985-2000. Minimal margins per gallon of 3-5 cents (that is...if your not in a competitive area. :eyeroll:)

The disties are even shadier...they decide when and what we need based on the volume of last year. And if the dealer runs low they call to place an order...not keep in mind they raise price per gallon fluxuates throughout the day.
It is amazing how the back up increases for a load when your running low. Ohh and they will in a New york minute ---let dealer run out before delivering the gas....waiting for the next price increase.
Think about it...it's a win/win situation for them~ Now you the consumer~ have to buy premium IF you want gas...and they get more per gallon.
But all the while blame us. :wtfface: So when we finally do get the load you b*tch about how we are price gauging.
Blame the state taxes/the fed gov taxes, the oil companies --even the pres ------but for god sakes stop blaming dealers.

Ohh and if and when you are a dealer lucky enough to make a margin... it barely covers the ever increasing electric/maintenace cost to keep the canopy lit...24 hours a day. And if you have a really good month---- Maybe a little help with the salaries of employees you need ----24 hours a day.
soo next time you see a regular size snicker for 99 cents and a 20 ounce pop- $1.35 plus dep...suck it up...and save the commentarys.

The state/fed gov took away any profit we used to make on gas and cig..now in order to keep foot traffic most stations have to resort to lotto...of which they make jack squat. so have a heart people. Now that you understand maybe you might have a different outlook. :hopingface:

Of course road construction highways being closed and detours for months is a deadly to station owners/dealers...but you know what is even more costly?

FYI: Guess how much the cost is to INSURE the gas station..even if your customers are detoured for months on end...you pay.
:youdon'twannaknowface::eek:

That should make you appreciate teh tanning industry a tad more. All industries have fualts but by far the tanning indusry has less over head and in most states less City /fed interferences and licenses.( ie; yearly fees)
Certificate of occupancy, Delta enviromenatls--EPA you name it.
