I was just in Denison, TX last night on my way to visit some family, and we were driving down the road (a quiet side road mind you...not a main strip) and I noticed a tanning salon on the right side of the street. Not more than a mile down I noticed another one on the right side, and then ANOTHER one right across the street. How do these 3 salons stay in business?? I mean, I don't know if any you are familiar with this area, but it's on the border of Texas and Oklahoma, and it's not exactly a booming metropolis out there. I can understand one salon up there, and I can see it doing rather well since it's only about an hour north of Dallas and I know a lot of people commute, but 3 so close baffles me.
Just a random post....lol...thanks to any that read it!! |

You wonder if their enough tanners to go around or they just making it? I have seen this a couple times. The best one I saw was Major intersection one salon across from each other than kiddy coroner another. Go down about 3-4 miles major intersection again one across from each other. However that city's poplulation was close to 200,000 so maybe they can handle that much saturation. I know the town is saturated with salons just did not think that close.

Dana must have had several windows open I've posted to the wrong thread on a couple occasions too.
That's our situation. Two right across the street. Another two about 3 miles north and south. And two more about 5 miles north. The newest one (5 miles north), Executive Tans, looks like he has only 6 beds and no room to expand, with a large competitor directly across from him. I'm not sure if there's something they know that I don't. |

They just opened an Executive Tans in McKinney, TX (about 25min north of Dallas), and it's the same scenario....right on the end of a shopping strip, very small store so there's no room to expand....I wonder why they would do something like that in an industry where each new salon seems to be getting bigger.....
