I was talking to a bed supplier today and we got on the topic of packages. Our conversation led us into unlimited tanning packages, and what I sold them for. My question to everyone is: Should we sell unlimited packages for medium pressure
(6000 watts or higher)or high pressure tanning equipment? Are we doing a disservice to the tanning industry and our clients by promoting(offering) someone to tan too often in a high performance tanning bed or booth? Weren't unlimited packages originally introduced because the tanning equipment back then wasn't as powerful as it is today? Could we make better profits if we didn't offer unlimited tanning? As a SMART TAN salon, are we doing the right thing?

I am a salon owner in north Florida for over 9yrs. I have four different levels of tanning equipment. I only sell unlimiteds for my base equipment(Orions-15min, 3500watt beds). I offer upgrades to my unlimited customers for a small cost per session(Odyssey $3,VHR $6,or Orbit $8)depending on the bed.

Just wondering what your thoughts are???

Yeah good question. I was starting to question my own pricing on my high end stuff as well. Anyone? Anyone?

we have three levels here and I use to sell unlimited (month passes) to all levels, but I stopped. I had the same thoughts. I decided to upsell the upgrades on a particular visit when a customer purchased the Level 1 month pass.

I have unlimited packages (30, 60, 90 day) for all equipment levels.

Also, they are included as a level in our EFT club.

We control the time, not the customer. If they have bought a unlimited package and they are a skin type 1 then their time will be limited and we would go soooo slow. It is training.
