I was a fairly avid tanner (going at least once a every 5-7 days) for most of last year. However, I was prescribed Retin-A Micro (night) and Clindamycin (day) for minor acne at the start of this year. It states that one should avoid sun expose at all costs. However, it also states that the: "The microspheres do not penetrate the skin barrier. The microspheres remain on top of the skin and are easily washed off when you shower or wash your face."

Is there any way that I can tan or get darker while on this stuff? I'm really starting to pale up and would like to get tan again. Maybe a self-tanner? Or, could I perhaps wash my face in the morning, go tan, and then come back and apply the medication?

I'd appreciate any input on this.

Thanks!

Are you sensitive to the sun now that you are taking those med's ? I use retin-a on my face & tan, but I do not have sevsitive skin. You might consider trying Big "O" by Designer Skin, it is a sunless tanner for the face, I use it all the time, great product.

I you should work on one thing at a time. Wait until you are done your medication. I had taken acutane for acne and it went away quick, but i also tanned at the same time and now i have undesirable redness on my face that doesnt go away. They put those rules on the bottle for your protection, not because there are exeptions to the rule. If you just have to go tanning, think of the longer picture. Maybe think of using a tan in a bottle. They have greatly improved since the days of orange skin. If the medication didnt penetrate the skin it would be completley useless, use should also thinking about trying something else. Just please be very careful.

How about Mystic Tan? Anyone know if this will work with a Retin-A/Clindamycin prescription? And, if not Mystic Tan, how about a self-tanner?

I already had said that you could use a self tanner. Make sure your acne medication has sunk into your skin and that your not putting it on just before. Mystic tan leaves run marks and i really dont suggest it. Mystic tan also requires not doing alot of things before and after like working out and such.

I would just go tanning more before I started using Retin-A. That stuff is BRUTAL. I don't have to use anything anymore since tanning.
