I was wondering...

My studio is opening soon and i wanted to make sure i know what im talking about. For customers safety and to keep valuable business. I have a representative coming to the studio from smart tan( i think they are called). They wont be coming until a couple weeks after i open. I was wondering if anyone had any online references that i could read to learn about everything, from different skin tones to what type of lotions to use. Any information would be great.

Hmm...just my 2 cents here, but I would think I would want to know all this before you considered opening a tanning salon. It may appear easy to run, but there's a lot of knowledge that goes into it....it's not just putting people in a bed and turning it on. I would probably get your employees Smart Tan certified before you opened, but if that's not an option, then you'll have to wing it the best you can and hope they don't burn anyone.

I want a "high energy tanning booth"...anyway, when I bought my place I basically saw who was running the place (an idiot) and knew that I could do AT LEAST the business he was....let's just say that I didn't know how to turn the beds on when I took over and look at me now. A miserable SOB that knows more about tanning than most fools.

Here's my advice, take all advice as opinion and not absolute FACT like some do on here cause what's true for some isn't true for others. A jerk with a 50bed megaplex is NOT gunna have the same business plan as a salon with 5 beds. Also, people have a habbit of EXAGGERATING, as in, claiming to get in 50bottles of lotion and ALL FLEW OFF THE SHELF when they mean they put them at HALF OFF and they flew off the shelf.

Honestly, if you have good TASTE & JUDGEMENT you should do fine.

I to agree. You may not get certified fast enough, but at least get the Smart Tan material, or check this link for online material:

I don't attack anyone personally and if anyone takes anything I say personally then it's their problem. It just so happens that anyone that hits 50beds falls under the title "jerk". As in, that jerk is kicking my *** again this year with his fitty beds and all.

Just hate'n on the people with more than me.

It may appear easy to run, but there's a lot of knowledge that goes into it....it's not just putting people in a bed and turning it on.
