I see someone deleted the topic about my banner purchase for ITS. That would be fine with me since it was incorrect. However I feel that everyone needs to know the truth. I have been questioned many times about this and want to set the record straight for anyone that does not know.

I do not own or work for ITS and they are the ones that have purchased a banner not me. I am not currently a distributor for this company and have only given my opinion as a salon owner that has in the last seven years owned or used most of the equipment on the market.

Paul Spivak is the owner of ITS and Steve Moran is in charge of sales. They are the ones that should be appluaded for buying a banner and not expecting a free ride.

Hopefully this will finally put to rest my affiliation with this company and clear up any questions about my integrity.

I have always been consistant in my stand on spam. I believe there is a difference in salon owners sharing experiances and a vendor just looking to spam. I have no problems with the vendors participating on these sites but they should at least be willing to support the site with a banner.

Yes it was but allegations were made by you and a couple of others that I would like the oppurtunity to clear up.

Allegations? Whatever, it was all done in error and is now gone.

There were allegations - and innuendo. That's how I interpreted several statements in the thread.

And while it may be best to "kill" the thread so more don't see the allegations and innuendo, I also think that when something like that is found to be false, there should be a thread started indicating as much! Preferably by those that did the 'damage' in the first place.

Or at a minimum - an apology. Hopefully you'll at least get those privately JeffinKC.

By the way - where are the "banners" anyway?? Are those the "google ads" that run at the top??

I am going out on a limb here but I think JeffKC has a lot to contribute on this site. I know we all might not agree all of the time...but that is a good thing...we are all on here to learn from one another and come up with new ideas...I think? I like having new blood on here and salon owners who are willing to share their ideas.
We do not have to agree...it is okay we are all from different markets and backgrounds and we can all share and learn from one another.
I have only been on here for 9 months... I do not know anyone or have personal grudges! I have seen fellow salon owners fighting and holding grudges for years..... I hope we can all post and debate topics that effect all of us and continue to learn from one another!

I would like to see some figures from banner advertisers showing ROI from their banner ads compared to the trade magazine ads and trade show investments. Other than lining (Chun's pockets, he still owns this site right? Haven't been here consistantly for a while myself), do the banners justify the expense?

You could say that banner advertisers are supporting the boards that allow salon owners who use their products to 'spam' for them by the very nature that if you are a salon owner 'only', you can promote any product you like without fear of being accused of the S word and I don't mean Sheila`.

But what about salon owners who have owned salons for years and then become distributors for a product they have always admired and used and promoted on line? Now that there is a more transparent motive for giving one's opinion in a thread about that product or merely answering a question about it, it is called spam.

I, however, feel that good old fashioned spam is when a manufacturer or distributor starts a thread about their products whether they have purchased a banner or not. Does purchasing a banner also mean purchasing the right to spam? Spam by any other name is still Spam.

Spam, spam, spam, and spam please. I do understand how annoying it can be to see someone contacting posters through email blitzes to spam their products, however if there is a prospect that needs information about a specific product and they request some info what is a business person to do?

If anyone needs info about my product they can call the 1800 number to the home office and if they are in my territory they will get my number. I do not start bogus threads so I can jump in and turn it into a promotional advertising blitz. I have seen that all too often.

So, there is a thin line between blatant Spamming and just taking care of business, working overtime.

Jeff, Peace brother, you are one of the good guys with a lot to offer on the boards.

Can some one define what is meant by allegations in the missing thread. There were no suggestions made by myself that anything illegal was going on, only that a certain person was "spamming" before they bought a banner. As it turns out the whole former thread was started in error, and went from there. Sorry if it upset you Jeff.

I do feel however, that the whole ITS Sunless thread was started as a "set up" for the maker to step in and give us the sales pitch, which is sly but "acceptable".

Time to move on.
