Recently, my Salon has changed it's confusing hours that were different day to day- to a concrete new scedule. They're now open from 7am-11pm everyday, and I think it's amazing. I called them one day and asked what time they're closing because everytime I wanted to go, they're closed because of what day and time it is, which frustrated me.
I called, and she said... "We close at 11 today!" I was appalled. At first I thought, oh.. since it's 1pm and it's sunday.. maybe they're already closed??? But common sense took the better, and I went to the salon. I was so happy when I read their new hours. I think that now it's what makes me want to go, half the times that I've gone, recently. It definitely brings more business. It's a great change and a great idea. After their hours changed, I've noticed more people going to tan while I'm there, even during this terrible up and down weather we're having. Of course it would gonna be kinda hard to convince workers to work so late and so early, but if you can make it happen, then awesome! If you already have a great scedule for your customers, then that's outstanding. I havn't been to many salons before, so I dont know what the usual time is. Maybe my salon was just behind with the rest of the tanning world. Dunno. But - better hours- That's just an idea! _________________ [ This Message was edited by: Sunny_Bunny on 2005-01-23 11:22 ][ This Message was edited by: Sunny_Bunny on 2005-01-23 11:23 ] |

My hours are already consistent for weekdays, and the same hours for weekends, no confusion. Employees can work the hours available at the salon, or they can work somewhere else, that shouldn't be an issue.

Sunny, we've been 7am-11pm 7 days a week for 10years, and none of the employees have had an issue. Just remind them that if they have an issue with your times, surely there's eager people out there that won't!

Hours depend greatly on the city/location if it near a college or a factories-- I would assume late and early hours are a necessity. If not it is often a waste of payroll. JMHO
I do however agree with consistancy ..you should be be consistant in every aspect of running your salon-- if your not then clients feel it and so does your bank account. |

oops...sorry sunny...just went back and read that...when you said "my salon" you didn't mean the one you work at/own....you meant the one you tan at!! Yes, they probably will have a little dissention in the ranks with the hours, but they'll get over it!!

That's awesome that you guys have great hours. Geez my salon is pretty behind then.. also since they only carry SB and AG... I wish they had designer skin, Supre, etc. so I don't have to go somewhere else just for lotion.
Are there ANY salons still that have less hours? |

Clients understand slight deviations from time to time, due to weather or special circumstances.
Posted hours seasonal or steady year round are clear enough for the average client... They decide if your hours are convenient to them -- BEFORE they purchase a package from you. Typically. JMHO_________________ Jane... You Ignorant Sl*t!!![ This Message was edited by: MJ on 2005-01-23 12:12 ] |

I have a sign posted stating that the last tan starts a half hour before close although we are lenient with that if they are not going a long time. Most people are ok with it - the odd one complains but I've found they often lie about the time they came in and don't seem to understand that sometimes employees have to be somewhere else after work and don't get paid to hang around for someone to have a late tan when the times are posted.
