I recently found that tanning with no goggles caused irritated eyes and mild night blindness. Then I did an interesting experiment: Most, if all people, clean the bed directly after it shuts off for the next customer. I found that when cleaning the bed, I stare at the turned off lights while cleaning. Then I tried just getting out of the bed, not looking at it and not cleaning it. My irritated eyes and night blindness went away. I believe that most eye damage comes from the warm lights that are still giving off uva rays while you are cleaning them. Try to close your eyes when cleaning the bed or just let the next customer clean it. It will save your eyes...

Did everybody miss the first line. You don't tan WITHOUT eye protection!!!!! Yes, you will experience night blindness or worse whether or not you look at the lights after they go off, I would be concerned about looking at them when there ON! Reputable salons have someone to clean the beds not the client.
