No burn technology, only 3-5 sessions in 10 days to get that beautiful tan, only 2-3 sessions per month to maintain.

1 session is = to 6 sessions in a base bed.

The difference, very low UVB meening very little chance of burning, which also meens staying on your natural 28 day exfoliating cycle, ( 5day cycle when using low pressure) much higher amount of uva, meens more browning, faster. Lastly, softer skin.

I'm very interested in an hp bed. Any thoughts on what brand or company is the best?

For curiosity sake, where did you get the following info:

"which also meens staying on your natural 28 day exfoliating cycle, ( 5day cycle when using low pressure) much higher amount of uva, meens more browning, faster. Lastly, softer skin. "

I've been kicking around getting a HP bed but have many clients who tan (or have tanned) at other salons and use their HP beds at $20-$30 a pop and prefer the results they get from my regular low pressure units. I don't know if it is possibly poor bed maintenence (old lamps) on competitors HP beds or the type of HP being offered but this concerns me if I do go the HP route.

Can anyone confirm this claim? I'm curious.

Neon, I've heard the same thing, can't remember where, but I heard it's a 21 day cycle.
SMC, I have a HP Venus. It's 42000 watts and requires 3phase electricity and a huge transformer - we had to mount ours on the wall outside of the room (in our storage area). They make a standup HP as well. The Chronos also looks fabulous. Both are 12min tan times, 360 tanning (no flipping). You lay on this flexible acryllic that is a biiaatch to clean.
UVB light causes the chemical reaction on your skin that causes burning, much like the light spectrum between 12 - 2 in like Texas and this light only penetrates the top layers of the skin, making the tan exfoliate in 5 days. The UVA penetrates to the bottom layer of the skin, browning all of it, and staying thru the 21? day cycle. This light gets you a more golden color and I've heard that it causes less photo aging and damage to the face, which is why they started using the bulb technology in base beds as facial tanners. Personally, I have to alternate with a 180watt 48 blb standup to get my UVB fix, as the UVA bed does not get me as dark as I would like - but I do have to tan less to keep it up. Does this make sense? I have put the most pale people in there and they do not burn. It's hotter than **** though, and that is the feeling of the light penetrating all the way down to the bottom of your skin. So people feel like they are burning, but they aren't. I had one lady complain that she DID NOT get red from it. I didn't know what to say. I hate that "I'm not getting tan from your bed". OK lady, I know that my bulbs have less than 15 hours......WHATEVER!!!
Neon, once I remember where this info came from, I will let you know the source. I'm bad that way, I read everything then forget where I saw it.

I know the relationship between UVA and UVB in developing a tan, I wasn't aware that tanning changed the natural sloughing off of dead skin cells. Doesn't sound right to me. Anxious to find out where that info comes from though. The only thing that I know of that changes that cycle would be psoriasis.

The best way to explain, if you actually have a hp bed is the UV output, this will give you a chance to explain the difference between the two. I have upgrade beds but only one of them actually has Hp facials. I tell the clients with the upgrades just less time to tan, the beds were created for speed tanners. NO need to make them something they arent.
