Question on tanners under 18

Do y'all 'card' young tanners if you think they're lying about their birthdate? Can a young person tan at any age with parental consent or is there a limit?

Does a parent or guardian have to sign the consent form in your presence? I dealt with a girl who forged her mother's signature recently... darn kids.

California says......14 to 18 must have a parents consent, under 14 same, but parent must be there with them when they tan as I understand it, on the release form have them put their phone # and check it out with the parent or make your own rule, parent must be there for the first visit and then you will be ok.....

We have even gone to the extend of having the mother bring in a birth certificate. Reason being we have parents coming in all the time trying to BS us.

I wasn't aware of this until I read tanning trends last issue but it said Texas doens't allow anyone under the age of 14 to tan period?!?! I wasn't aware of that when we opened. Call the TDH and find out for sure. We are in Texas and we just quit allowing anyone under 14 to tan. If they are under 18 they can't tan without a paren't sig. We let them take it home if they need to but we would rather the parent's come in and sign it. I figured just as long as we have a sig. on file. No, I do not check anyone's ID..maybe we should start.

We make the parents sign for them in person, and we dont let friends parents sign for someone else's kid either.

Thanks to all of you who responded! ANGELCAT you haved saved my hiney once again... I was totally unaware of under 14 law and will put it into effect here immediately. Learning as I go!
