Rep Power: 0 hopeful is on a distinguished road
My daughter and I are opening a new Tanning Salon and Spa in October 2004. We plan on opening with 5-6 beds with the potential to add 12 more. Weare attending the trade show in Vegas at the end of the month to help us deciede on equipment. But we have no idea what to expect? Is there alot of room for price dealing ? Are there certain companies we should concentrate on? Any advice is welcome. Thanks hopeful

Hopeful, you should direct all your questions to the 2mods on here engfant and jksonpis or something like that. They are experts in this business and can answer all of your questions and will give you all the tricks of the trade. I can tell you that you should only sell Designer Skin lotions because they have a diversion department that keeps their lotions from being sold on the net and only buy your beds and other supplies from URI/BIG DOG. This is the only information I am allowed to give on this board. Good Luck.

Excuse ME ? Designer Skin is all over the internet, worse than any other lotion out there.

tanu01, Did you Just say what I think you said? Quote: Excuse ME ? Designer Skin is all over the internet, worse than any other lotion out there.
Flick.

tanu01 your gonna get in some big trouble around here. This does not meet tantalk standards. It is my understanding by most of the mods here that this is just not true. I thought DS had a Diversion Department that assured us this won't happen. What good is a diversion department if they can't do their job? Last time I brought this up my post was deleated by a mod then I was told that DS took everybody to court and won. Please help me out here.

Thedorseytouch, I am curious, you suggest two of the moderators as experts in the tanning industry so I took a look at their profiles, and they each own a 6 bed tanning salon. Am I missing some additional information here? What makes them experts?

Sorry you got in the middle of an online pi--ing match.
Now, for your question.....You can expect a lot of distributors telling you that they have the best beds and best deals. There is room for negotiaiton on price depending on how many units you are buying. Don't feel pressured into buying at the show. Most will honor their prices for a limited time after the show. As far as recommending bed companies, you will get as many answers as there are people posting. There are several good companies and a few to avoid. If you do a search on TanTalk you should be able to pull up lots of bed discussions. Good Luck and maybe we will meet in Vegas.

hopeful....sorry for the drama..some people just can't help themselves with their rude comments. We are not all like that.First of all...choosing equipment is your own preference..you need to tan in different beds.. different lamps to see what you think gives the best results...Be careful of what distributor ..they are not always what they seem...Customer service is #1....so find out who has GREAT customer service!! Thats by word of mouth... when a part breaks you need it right away not 2 months down the line..(believe me).So there are many things to take into consideration.Good Luck!!
