I am curious to know how other tanning professionals feel about cleaning beds and touching used towels without gloves on. When I first started working at my salon, I was the only one who used gloves. After a while, I got lazy and joined everyone else in cleaning with my bare hands. What do you think about this?

I also used gloves when I first opened and then after we started to get busy, I really thought they were more of a hassle than anything. I just do not have the time to worry about throwing gloves on in the middle of my bed cleaning escapades. I do keep gloves on hand if they are needed for some reason, otherwise I always have hand sanitizer behind the desk for use after cleaning the rooms.

I use gloves no matter how busy. I cleaned one bed once without gloves. It grosses me out to much to not where them and it looks more professional I think. It dried my hands out something terrible the time I didnt also.

It is my bed cleaners choice to use gloves or not, they choose not to. They do use golves when they clean the Mystic, because of the possibility of staining their hands.

After I clean a bed, I head right to the restroom and wash my hands.

Folks, arent you using a disinfectant to clean the beds, I believe it kills the germs on contact and we direct our clients to throw their towels out when they are exiting the room.

you'd better put on a facial filter mask also,

god knows there are millions of dead skin cells flying around the salon

when I go to the doctors office or vets office or any place I expect to have high sanitation standards they all wear gloves even if they are spraying a disinfectant. I think it looks more professional and there is a such thing as cross contamination. Just because you use a disinfectant on the beds there isnt any being sprayed on the towel the person in that room used and God knows where they wiped that towel. (I take the clients towels out of the room myself) So I'll stick with my gloves.

Use lucasol sanitizer and paper towels, throw the dirty paper towels in the trash, and use Purell Hand Sanitizer/Moisterizer on your hands after.... its only like $3 at Walmart, and the bottle will last you a while. Doesnt dry hands out, and is a good disinfectant!! We never wear gloves, it would be too much of a hassle!!

I never even considered wearing gloves to always clean beds. Sounds like a hassle plus they are hot. I use them when I airbrush and clean that room. I do have them on hand and employees have the coice to wear them or not. They don't.

Not sure about paper towels on the acrylics. I know you aren't supposed to use them on plastic glass lenses because they could scratch them. Also, the expense and the trash.......

What is paper made of? WOOD
Wood will scratch acrylic, it is a soft porous material, in time when you take out your acrylics for that monthly maintence you will see scratches like a bad road map...dont use paper towels on your acrylic.
