I will send a fax tomorrow Sheila, thanks. This post was an attempt to let lotion makers and distributors know that not ALL of us enjoy their sales scams. Not only do I not enjoy the harrassment, but any unsolicited call will put them on my "I Will Never Buy From You" Black List.
I have been with the same dist. for 4 years and have no plans to change regardless of the "buy 10 get 10 free", "buy a case of brand x and get a free counter display", or whatever plan they have concocted to get rid of last yrs inventory.

I'm not sure they realize that the people who do the telemarketing for them are, often times, rude and disrespectful. JUST TODAY, I answered a telemarketing call that started with the typical "Hello, how are you today can I speak with the owner please" I said "What's this regarding sir" and CLICK....that was it. Fine with me.

I DO have caller ID and have had it for years. We get several calls, especially from cutomers on cell phones that say "OUT OF AREA", so unfortunately we cant ignore those calls.

I guess the big picture is that they are successful in their telemarketing endeavours. If they weren't they wouldn't do it.

Well Randy, seems like you are in the wrong business. Welcome to the world of sales, I would think someone who has been in the tanning industry as long as you have would realize how the business world works. Seems like you are taking out some frusterations in real life with some telemarketers. I think the statement about these people getting real jobs is hilarious. They sell products and services to people, kind of like you, huh? Unless they do things different down in Texas. I take it you probably didn't take many business classes in your day.

You guys act like this is the worst thing in the world. I see people in here with thousands of posts complaining about 30 seconds out of their day being disturbed. I bet some of you guys complaining also send out fliers and valpak to local area residents.

It's real simple people. Answer the phone, if they are with a lotion distributor and you aren't interested in the pitch, say so. I say "I'm sorry but I'm with someone else at this time and very happy". If they get pushy then state your case again and if by then they don't get it, hang up.

But I have a solution for you. Take down your sign in front of the store, unplug your phone, board up the windows and hide behind the counter. This will enable you to get rid of the frusteration of a couple 20 second phone calls everyday.

See people like Randy who act like jerks to people calling doing their jobs, typically have deeper issues. They are typically the ones who got taken by a few salesman early on in their tenure. They are also the ones you can tell have social issues in real life, and need to make themselves feel better about it by cutting down telemarketers.

Oh Keyriiiiist ~

Let's see.... Maybe when Firegoddess is sitting on the Crapper, she won't mind if I ring her door bell 20 times to attempt to sell her inferior toilet paper....

AGAIN - this has been beaten until the horse is getting reincarnated.

My phone is in place for me to MAKE MONEY and ASSIST MY CLIENTS - not to be annoyed by companies that have repeatedly been advised to STOP calling ... This is why the gods invented the Postal Service - you want my business??? YOU MUST RESPECT MY TIME....

.... ummmm yeah ~ that is the sign of someone still wet behind the ears and never ran for a phone to find that it is R-Sun once again telling you it's a 'no brainer'....

Online is for sharing opinions ~ Thanks for chiming in.... and allowing me to share my thoughts about your opinion..... Like MJ Says ~ opinions are like assholes, Everybody's got one, and everyone thinks the other guys stink.

Well, FIREGODDESS (whatever) I really dont have a lot of time to respond to your ridiculous response so I will just have to quote myself from an earlier post. Just substitute FIREGODDESS where it says coconut. And disregard the part about being friends. Quote:

Well, COCONUT, a public service as most people know it is something like the city bus you take to work every day, the public health clinic you go to, or the public restroom at the park across the street from your house that you use everyday. Things like that. My business is a private business. Being so, I do not enjoy being bothered by uninvited snake oil salesmen interrupting me and my employees several times during the day. I do not understand how my position on this bothers you so. Do you have telemarketers in your family?? Are your kids telemarketers?? If so, let me apologize for offending you, I did not mean to disparage you or your family in any way, and I certainly dont want to encumber their ability to earn a living. Can't we just be friends, coconut??

They, FIREGODDESS, are also the ones who will suffer from life long illusions of grandeur, exceedingly unjustified high opinions of themselves, and poor business and social acumen. Their constant attempt to make themselves feel better about their lot in life frequently becomes an annoyance to others.

I hope that those who are complaining about the sales calls are not involved in mailing fliers or coupons to residential addresses. That would be very hypocritical.

yeah ~ that makes sense..... How annoying and hypocritical for us to use the Mail System... where people - at their leisure can decide to read or throw out what is sent to them....

There is a reason that laws are being made regarding Telemarketing ... every business owner gets it at the home front too....

There is nothing hypocritical about telling MFGs that you will not ever buy their products based upon their Marketing Techniques..... If a person is upset with a flyer or postcard they may choose to make that same decision ~ Whatever.

Your right Randy, I have poor business and social acumen. I guess I'll do something profesional like ordering a bunch of lotion on COD then decline it. It really doesn't get much more profesional then that.

For some of you, I'm glad that you only own tanning salons. See I have a 9-5 that I work outside of the tanning salon. I'm realizing that some of you would be eaten alive outside your little tanning salon. It's a sales call, get off your high horse.
