I hired a guy to give me an estimate for electrical work done. I am leasing 1,580 square feet. I have eleven beds. I had an electrician already and he was a drunken beep beep beep... Anyhow I need a 3 phase sub-feeder added and the guy has to fix what the other guy did. Altogether it will be a big project, I know this. He gave me an estimate between 8,400 - 9,100. Is this outrageous or what I should expect? I figure if anyone knows it would be other owners. Please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was that when you opened? I am starting from scratch here. Not only the new sub-feeder but also, eleven drops now exposed to be moved into non-exposed area, eleven new electrical circuit drops, complete main run conduits to new panel, branch circuit wiring through conduits to beds, exsit moved (2), receptacle on walls for sign, phone, computer, connect the booster transformers, permit fees....... HELLLLLPPPPP!

I just finished the Electrical work for my new salon. I have 6 units, speakers in each room, all wired to the front desk. I did not even put any new service in, because it has a three phase 100 amp service in there. In the end after almost only rewiring for three days it cost me $5,000. Saying that , I think that your electrician may be right. The only thing I dont know is- are you having this guy wire everything from scratch? If so, it sounds like a big job, so ALWAYS get a second opinion. An estimate is usually free, so you should make a second choice, see what they say, and go from there. When I got my first estimate the guy told me $15,000. I couldn't believe it, and was blown away as well as CONVINCED. They are all electricians, they must know what they are talking about right- Wrong. Sometimes they are just too lazy or busy to do the job, so to get you off their back they will tell you an outrageous estimate. Your best bet is to go with the most reputable electrician in your area. Someone who is not only licensed to do commercial stuff, but also has been in business for a while. My electricians get $80.00 per hour/per man. This is double some of the competition, but you want to do it the right way, so spend the money. You will be happy that you did in years to come.

I appreciate the feedback guys! I am going to get a second opinion. My only problem here is that my opening date has gone by several times now and I just feel like nothing is going right, you know? Everything and anything that could go wrong has... Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!
