Does anyone know or have a list of damaging lotion ingredients? I've been having trouble with tanners using lotions that are ruining the acrylics in my beds. They don't come off-leave a glue like residue and damage the acrylics. I've already had to replace one this season. I don't restrict them to buying lotion at my salon, but do ask that they use a professional salon lotion. Knowing some or many of these ingredients would help me alot!

Any product with mineral oil in it will kill your acrylics. We ask them to show us their lotions if they did not buy from us. We educate them up front on the first few visits about the best lotions to use and which ones can't be used. We have a display of banned lotions. Make lotion education a major part of your tour and everyday spiel.

We have a list of lotions that they cannot use. If they come in with one of these or something I am not sure of I give them a sample to try for today and ask that they leave theirs with me until they leave. I even offer half off of bottle of something we sell and trade theirs for it.
Education IS the key! Pam |

We also have a list of lotions that cannot be used in our salon. I try to educate our customers of lotions when they first come in to tan. I explain to them how the lotions damage the acrylics and how they can be counter productive to the tanning process. I also educate them about proper eye protection and why it is important, however in the last couple of weeks many customers have been telling us they don't use any eyewear or take it off partway through their session. I try to re-educate them about both os these things and hope it may sink in. I am at a loss as to what else I might do aside frome posting a list stating if their lotion comtains any of these ingredients, they cannot use it in or before tanning.
