How many of you have high pressure units in your salon? I want to put one in my salon that is opening in about 8 weeks but killing me to spend that extra chunk.

Of those of you that have them do you really get enough people paying to use them to offest the extreme expense?

Most of the salons in my area dont have high pressure and the few that do i dont see many people using them.

It seems to me that the only reason to have one is to get the extra revenue from upgrades and not necessarily people paying the $25. a pop to tan in it. Then i wonder if the upgrade amounts really pays off that 25k to 30k investment.

Any opions are greatly appreciated. Thanks. I am in Orlando, FL

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW SALON! I have come to believe that what you, as owner, and your employees, believe in.....you can sell. (of course the equipment and lotions must deliver results) To answer your question.....a high pressure unit will do great and make you lots of "upgrade" money if you and your staff believe in it, use it, push it, advertize it, tell every customer about it and why it is a benefit to them, run free upgrade weekend specials to get people in it, etc. If you are not totally committed to doing this, don't waste your money.Customers naturally flock to the cheapest priced unit until you convince them why it is in their best interest to upgrade.

What is the benefits of one of those? I was thinking of going to another salon to use one. My friend told me I'd only need to use it like twice a month. Is that true?

High pressure units have a higher % of UVA than UVB.. UVA is typically referred to as the "bronzing ray"... So yes Tanpimp you will get excellent results from a HP unit and you would get benefits using it 2 a month...

bjhcpa ...

I do not own a salon (yet) but am in the process of purchasing one. I too am considering high pressure for my salon. I tanned for a long time at a few salons that offered the SunSport and UltraBronze. They initally sold me on the idea because I could maintain my tan with 2 or 3 sessions per month (when you do the math it is much more effective and less time consuming) and the salon actually did the math with you in front of you. Obviously I bought a package. I became so addicted to the results I began going every few days...Man did those 2 salons make a killing off me!!! It was all in the way the way they sold it. JUSTTHEFACTS is right...Believe in it, Advertise it, Promote It and you will Sell It!

Yes, High Pressure WILL PAY OFF if you sell it right. We've had ours for 20 days now, we've generated around $6-7K in those 20 days off of our HP Matrix. It really eliminated our down days and upgrade monies definitely add up quickly. You also need to b in the correct demographics as well.

We have one Ultrabronz 818. We've been in business since 1995 - opening up with the UB. In the last 4 years, that one bed has averaged $44,000 in sales/per year. I think that's pretty good - I dunno. What do you guys think?
I, personally, could not imagine my salon without that bed. I like that my salon has choices for the customer - a variety of beds. Yes, they are expensive to buy outright (which is what we did, we didn't lease it). They're the same price as getting a Mystic.
