First Tan Free ???

I am guessing that people expect the first tan to be free because there are alot of salons around here that *advertise* Frist Tan Free. I don't believe in that. You receive a service, you pay for a service. The ONLY time I give away a free tan is if they buy a tanning lotion. I usually put an add that says "Free Tan w/ purchase of a Tanning lotion of $40 or more." That way, I am making more $$ off the lotion then I would off the tan.

But I would NEVER EVER just give a tan away for free.

Thats what my last salon was doing for a while, if you buy a lotion over 30 dollars you got a free tan in an upgrade bed... for that salon upgrade bed meant either the Matrix, or the Supernova Special Edition.

I don't know about u...but a tan at my salon costs more then .30 cents..

1) Electric to fire it up...
2) Tech time to teach them how to use it etc....
3) Wash and bleach towel..and thats if they only use one...
4) Skin Type Form and time to fill it out...
5) Citrus cleaner & disinfectant (rags, towels or whatever u use)...
6) Baby wipes for excess lotion if they even purchase any or taking off make-up...
7) Moisturizer in each room for tanner to use afterward...
8) Lamp usage...

We give a free tan if they purchase 3 for 12.00 (base beds) or 3 for 15. or 3 for 25. or 3 for 30. and so on up ...and when they are cut short on the first tan as they always are as it is a State law we cannot max out (bed time) a customer the first time in..no matter what...so thats when we tell them since we have to cut your first one short and build up to your time we will give u a free tan in any unit of your choice...and that makes them happy...Then we're all happy... Soo

anyone who says it is pennies on the dollar to turn a bed on..
is either
~ grossly misinformed..and new to online.
~ a bed salesman
~ or not new to online and is not the brightest lamp in the bench.

I give guest passes to my clients to give to their friends. It is 3 free tans, to be used in 3 consecutive days, only 1 guess pass per person. It gives them a chance to try out our beds and see what our salon is about. We get a ton of these things in.

i give my clients a customer card that says every sixth tan free, i stamp it every time they come in, that encourages them to come back also

Simply put, it means that one cannot get something for nothing. Even if something appears to be free, there is always a catch. You may get free food at a bar during "happy hour", but the bar-owner either figures out a way to get you to pay or gets some sort of benefit (such as attracting new customers). This may or may not be true at the individual level, depending on the interpretation of the phrase
