okay, I am just a bit confused.
The salon I go to works on sessions, session fees, monthly packages, etc. The base beds go up to 20 minute sessions and then as you work your way up through the upgraded beds, they are 15, 13, 10, 9 minutes, whatever.... but lately they have been asking me if I want to buy EXTRA minutes in the upgraded beds. My question is this=am I buying minutes above and beyond the legal exposure limit? Or are these upgraded beds not delivering the maximum amount in the pre-set time? I was curious and asked about the base beds. I said "I thought they were 20 minutes?" The girl replied "Yes, but you can buy up to 30 minutes for a session." I usually do 10 minutes in the "Big Red" and the other day they actually asked me how long I wanted to be in it for and did I want to do "just 10 minutes?" and this is one of the top 250 salons in the country |

The max dose in all beds is 4 med, so there are no such things as upgrades (as in getting more uv dose} the only reason to upgrage is for better coverage, cooler more comfortable, faster more effectient, etc.
What they sound to be selling is a dose longer {higher} then what the law allows or what the bed was intended to give. So instead of going for a max exposure of 10 min., lets say, they are leting you take a session and 1/2 {a 15 min session}. A session longer then the max. This is common and done for people that have tanned a lot, the max dose is very conservative and designed to be as limiting as possible yet still provide a tan. Out doors you would easily get much much higher doses then 4 med. _________________ Tanning Booths, for people that want only the very best. Fast, Comfortable, Dark Tanning and Hygienic. More on this. If a tanning machine is designed to tan you evenly and as dark as you can get, then there is no need to be charged the {upgrade} fee, its manipulation. We call it the old bate and switch, tell people that the tan session is one price, but move them up to paying 3-5 times per session more for a "better tan".
If you use booths you will tan as dark as you can tan and in as short a session as possible and evenly, in comfort. You will not need to do a so called {upgrade}. You will get a 4 med dose from head to toe. Save your money. Its fun to try different machines, but not if you are paying a lot more just for gimick instead of results. But its your money and your time do what ever makes you happy. |

I am very dark and I tan all the time whether it is indoor or outdoors. I just didn't know if it was something ABOVE that legal dose or if they weren't delivering that maximum dose. as far as beds go, I enjoy the base beds. I upgrade to the more powerful ones only if there's a wait (prom season) or if it's super-hot and I want the extra air conditioning. |
