I currently use sign in sheets, but find that I am constantly reminding my tanners to sign in. I even have posted a sign and still have to ask. Without fail though atleast a handful of tanners slip through my fingers and never sign in. Any suggestions? Are there alot of salons out there still using sign in sheets?

I use the sign in sheet comes in handy....do you have softwear connected to a timer system or just manual wall timers?
I find that customers that swear they had a visit left can't do so when I have thier signature not just the time and date in a pc. They say "oh no your employee must have ACCIDENTALLY used my name I know I didn't come in on that day."
Just keep reminding them... They will eventually remember.
It is even more important to hav e a sign n sheet if you are on a card system of employees manually put customers in a bed.
Good luck And welcome to tantalk.
Mj
Have a great season!

We have the occasional tanner that doesn't sign in. But the majority of them do. The sign-in sheet does come in very handy when trying to prove how many sessions were used.

I was told by state inspector in Indiana that they have to sign every time they tan even if you are computerized and it has to say the same thing as the release. We have all the warnings printed small at the top and they sign it (most of them most of the time). Pam

We use sign in sheets also. Most of the customers sign in without a problem. It makes it easy to see the day at a glance for time of day we are the busiest and need to extend hours.

Every client that comes in to tan is told how many sessions they have left. with helios its easy, If they later say They should have more , we say you were told at each session how many you have left, why do you think differently now?
This never comes up anyway except for 1 regular client, he is a hot head, he keeps track of his session him self as well, but always forgets to record all the sessions he takes, SUPRISE,

We use sign in sheets always.....clients are told when they join that every time they come in the need to sign in and nearly everyone does with out being reminded. Since we don't take appointments when it gets busy and we are full and have clients waiting they are told we put people in the beds strictly by the sign in sheet so if you don't sign in you will get overlooked.

In my salon we enforce that strongly, But however, just try to follow through. I'm from Pennsylvania and the guidelines for tanning are either none or are the enter at your own risk thing. Does anyone here have problems with teenagers that are in between the ages of 15-17? What sould I do?

We have a sign in sheet as well. This must be signed by every tanner that comes through the door. Like Teresa said, we get busy and the person signed in is next. It also is used as a waiver each time they tan. How long they want and that eyewear has been provided and also for the medication chart to be checked. This helps us if we ever need prove that each person was responsible for their tanning. They have signed. I like the copy we use, it covers us pretty good. If anyone wants a copy pm me and I'll email you one. If they don't sign in, don't tan them.

In the next couple of months we are going to thumbprint identification. Client comes in pushes in his or her thumbprint. Thats how they will check in. We will know thier name so that we dont have to ask. We will be able to call them by name and put them in thier bed. Also if your thumb was here at so and so time so was the rest of your. People wont be able to cheat this. I cant wait!
