Max,
Thanks for posting this. I was told today that we can either participate in the promo deals or the rebates. We cannot do both. This is confusing to me. I thought the promo deals were meant to generate more sales from the customer side and the benefit goes to them. The rebate plan was to benefit the salon owner. |

I'm sure most of you are familiar with the rewards program with CalTan where if you are an exclusive Caltan salon or purchase a certain amount of product you will receive a bonus amount free. Also a number of Caltan products are made available in a promo packs. A promo pack consist of one lotion and a smaller sample lotion packaged together. The package indicates there should be a free sample product so the customer knows they should be receiving another product. This prohibits salons from breaking the package apart and selling the lotions separately.
Here's a policy that I was unaware of.... If you opt to receive promo packs, the free lotions attached are considered your "free bonus product" from the rewards program. You don't receive both.... I can understand that however, if we chose not to carry the promo packs and go with the bonus lotion reward we could sell that lotion and gain a profit whereas that option is not available with the promo packs. Therefore, salon owners won't be rewarded for their purchase if they have to give it away with the promo pack. Am I wrong on this? Have I been misinformed? If anyone can clear up this perception please feel free..... Just needing to understand...... Thanks! |

I believe there is a little bit of confusion out there regarding what does and does not qualify toward Volume Rewards. This is the official policy, as stated under "Volume Reward Guidelines" on the Volume Reward Claim Forms: "Only purchases of open stock product qualify toward Volume Rewards. Purchases of Packette Displays, Show & Sell Counter Units and gift bag promotions do not qualify." Gift bag promotions include the California Tan Holiday Gift Bag ONLY. PRODUCT GIFT WITH PURCHASE PROMOTIONS CAN BE COUNTED TOWARD VOLUME REWARDS.
The reason we exclude Packette Displays and the Show & Sell Counter Unit is because these items already ship with free goods for the salon to sell. Holiday Gift Bags do not qualify because the salon and customer already benefit from receiving a $95 retail value at a suggested promotional price of $65. However, the Gift With Purchase Promotions (like Heat Shock with a FREE 6oz Total Immersion) DO COUNT toward Volume Rewards because, as stated in the above post, California Tan is giving these gifts away free to the consumer and does not want to create a disincentive to the salon to sell them. We apologize if this is confusing and hope this post helps clear things up.
