Considering Buying Salon - What is this equipment worth?

Hi,

I am considering buying an existing salon in my community. The purchase will be of the salons assets then assuming their lease. I will be rebranding and changing name.

Just was wondering if I could get some advice on what this equipment may be worth:

Sun Capsule - 48 Lamp - 160 Watt - 6 Side Model
Ergoline Open Sun 1050
Ergoline Affinity 800
Ergoline Affinity 600
Ergoline Affinity 500
Ergoline Ambition 250

I am not sure on the hours per unit yet, all were purchased new in 2007. I want to know what would these units sell for installed in a salon, not what they would sell for if in a shipping crate in a warehouse.

Also there are 2 rooms that are being used for esthetics, I am planning on putting a spray tanning unit in one room, would it be wise to have a 2nd base bed in the other spare room?

Thanks in advance.

I would go with a leg tanner or another standup unit. But you have great equipment now. What did you pay for it?

Price is always a function of what a buyer and seller agree to.

Sitting in the salon - you don't have to pay shipping, install etc.

On the other hand -- are they clean - inside and out? Do you have to relamp any/all of them? Any acrylics in need of replacement? Is everything functioning properly? Do you know if they are "free and clear" - does the current salon owe any banks or leasing companies for which this was collateral?

If I was the salon trying to SELL it to you, I'd make a case it was worth $60K. I'd also try to talk about my buildout (which belongs to the landlord....), my great decor, my computer, yada yada yada

If I was you, trying to BUY the assets, I would factor all those other things in above (condition, year, hours,....), point out that the landlord "owns" the buildout after it is done so nothing I would pay for as an "asset" and will be changing the decor and rebranding anyway....so I would want to pay more like 40K.

As to whether it is "wise" to have a 2nd base bed, I would look at the numbers. In general - no. A base bed will make you less money per visit than anything else you could put in that room. I'd analzye how much use they are getting on the different pieces of equipment now, and determine where I would see the best revenue generation.
