Re: New To The Business. Need Advice

The key to this membership - to ANY membership - is it "ties" them to your salon.

If a competitor comes along with a great price for a week or a month - why should they change? They already pre-paid their "membership" with you - and they are getting half off and can use any bed!!

To make it work - you should be STRONGLY encourage them to use upgrade equipment ANY time any are open! Convince them that the only time they should "only" use a level 1 bed is when nothing else is open in the salon!

If you TRAIN them to be upgrade customers, then hopefully you will see that your NEXT bed purchase should be another/more upgrade units -- maybe even trading OUT some of your level 1 to get in more higher level units!

Can also tie in lotion discounts to this. For example, if month SuperSaver members get 5% off lotion, Quarter members get 10% off and yearly get 20-25% off. Something like this rather than a "student discount". Again - push them to doing the YEARLY as their 'best value' - because of the tanning AND the lotion discounts. You get $50 upfront, before they ever take a tan. And then EVERY time they come in, you remind them -- "with your Membership, you get 25% off any products -- let me tell you about our....." and you can not only sell tanning lotion, but specialty products for the face, sunless products for "between" sessions, tan extenders,..... And maybe other retail, if you decide to bring it in.

125 for a 600? I want to be in your demographic.

Well - we DO sell it for that.

But -- part of the key to your pricing is that it "directs" customers to what you REALLY want to sell.

So if a single session is $16-18 ----- it makes packages of any form more attractive.

And if a month is $125 -- it makes the EFT membership of $59.88 CLEARLY the best option.

If your pricing structure isn't aligned properly - you won't maximize your sales. Whether on tanning, memberships, product or anything else.

Pretty accurate guess on the Level One pricing. We only have three levels and the ergoline 450 beds are Level Two. Not quite getting $125 for the 600. Going over prices this week. Will be in contact soon, thank you so much.

$125 a month to tan in a 600 is a bit extensive....(?)

..it is old, underpowered..what is the nearest comp offering for their top tier?

Re: New To The Business. Need Advice

New to the business, looking for a level 3 and level 4 bed. Would an Ergoline Ambition 250 be a level 3 and what would be a good price to pay for one? And what about the Ergoline Evolution 500, would it be a level 3 or 4 and what would be a good price for a used one? Thanks for any help.

Re: New To The Business. Need Advice

Sunchief,

We have Ergoline Ambition 200 beds as our level one, a couple of Ergoline 450 beds as level 2 and an Ergoline Avantgarde 600 as our level 3.
We have giveaways and specials to give Level 1 customers are chance to lay in a Level 2 or 3 beds and most end up upgrading.

Just my $.02

First off..do not steal someone else's thread....it is rude and the internet forum gods frown on it...re-post your question as a new 'thread'...you will get a better reply..

But to answer part of your question, an Ambition 250 would be a level 2...but then 'levels' are like figments of an imagination..what one salon has as 'levels', could be totally different from someone else...too many factors....I use to have Orbits (46lamps 140/160w) for my level 1..
