So true! In Minnesota people are tired of being stuck inside for 9 months of the year, so during the summer they are outside and not going to a tanning salon. Free doesn't even bring them in. It goes with the territory so you just plan on being very slow. Good time to paint and freshen up the salon for the new school year.

During the slow months is not when you promote free tanning. During slow months you market short term value packages or daily specials promoted by text.

Free is fore the busy time of the season and only for tanners that have never tanned at your salon.
It is not just the special or free sample offer, it is also when and how you use them.

there's plenty of business's that are successful and do not give anything free.

if offering advice, try selling us idea's that do not include giving it away free or half off.

come on Steve, change your delivery please.
If on Saturday you know no one will tan, that morning you send a text blast offering 50% off any single tan today only. That will generate income that day and not effect anything else that you are offering. Take your blinders off and think outside of the box for solving specific issues as well as the big picture. Or you could do nothing or not offer a special and generate no income on Saturday.

I can only hope that my clients salons are in your market. You will make them much more successful.

So have a huge BBQ for all of your customers. You need to get people to your salon before anything else can happen. Focus first on that, once that happens sales will follow.

Who says Underhill knows it all, He's got nothing up on Kookyguy. Now, this guy has an answer for anything, and everything. I'm sure his arms are longer from patting himself on the back. One who wallows in his sucess, tends to look like an *** to those that don't, and who are struggling. Don't glote, for things can change in a heartbeat.

Personally, I prefer Steve's method of teaching. I'm an adult and as long as what your saying is true be direct and don't beat around the bush.

Gloat? Trying to help people isn't gloating. The fact is, our salon is doing great, year over year over year...if that hurts your feelings, F84k you.

At the end of the day I don't get paid to help anyone, so if you don't like my advice don't read what I write, or try the things I suggest! It has no impact on me one way or another.

I have in fact helped quite a few salon owners improve their numbers at no benefit to me. I'm not here selling anything. Advice is free, take it or leave it.

I have a new promo I'm going to try in the next few days...I bet I make $3k a day from it while you go on making $160 a day if you're lucky. Or maybe you will have another $6 day or even one of your NO $ days!

Welcome to the site. Can we assume you are one of Steve's clients as you have just joined today and this is your one and only post?

Everyone has different ways of "participating" on these sites. Everyone has different experience behind the "advice" they offer. As well as different motives or incentives.

Probably the thing that frustrates participants most is those that share that they have "the answers" to finding success or improving but then don't give enough detail for others to try. It seems like teasing (or gloating or "pitching" your services or whatever). That said - there are no rules that anyone HAS to share all the details - just sort of a "sense of community" that suggests "help a brother out would you?".

Still, lots of good information on this site - the key is digging in and applying it!

I am not one of Steve's clients I just did not interperit his answers as harsh. If you sugar coat something I may not fully grasp the message. I want to be told hey your doing this wrong. I see a lot of people asking for help here then when they get it everyone else seems to jump on the way the advice was given. At my salon that o bought last month I have 10$ days but still have 300$ days I know this is not great but my point is I had assumed it was the time of year only. If Steve or you guys had just said yes it's the slow season I would have gone on thinking everything was going alright.

Reading this thread being new I now see others are not as affe cited by these months and I would like to be one of them. I am new to the site but I want a straight solution when I ask for one be as blunt or straight forward as you will for me to fully grasp the advice. Just my 2 cents
