All the other gyms around me have it so I guess people expect it". If you don't add it, you will lose biz to the competitor. Every gym around me offers tanning. The majority offer top equipment. If you do it, offer at least 2 beds, no more than 160w lamps. Personally, if it was me, I'd offer one bed with 120w lamps all around, and the 2nd bed a VHR with 160's. I know my cohorts on this site will hate me for saying it. However, one needs to embrace competition, not fight it |

It had been a good business for quite a few years. I have a number of items for sale that could help you get started and wouldn't cost you a fortune (several mid level tanning beds, a T-max Manager, T-max wall timers, extra acrylics, TanTrack software, etc. If you want to know more email me at wwc2109@yahoo.com |

Tanning is a specific specialized business and tanners now expect the experience that is associated with that specialization. If you set up tanning services properly in a fitness center it can be a very profitable addition to the center as well as create independent revenue. However when tanning as added as a service the wrong way it will not generate income or add value to your fitness services. It is all back to understanding the tanning industry and how it can compliment other segments of the wellness industry. Lets talk. | |

Cvs and walgreens and sams seem to be doing a pretty good job kicking your local practitioners hard using their new care centers which morphed from their massive daily turns. Well funded and hiring the right folks you can sell groceries out oc that walmart. Businesses with more revenue streams are what is trending now. |

You can calculate your costs by learning how many 'tans' will run before the bulbs run out. I used to work for Gold's Gym and we charged 15$ per tan, and regulars could get a package of tans...lets say 10 for 100 or 20 for 150. I would not include tanning in your membership, and keep is separate. |
