Rep Power: 0 | small start up Has anyone out there had any success with buying two new commercial beds,(what else would i need to get going?) renting a small building in a small town that now offers no where to tan. Not looking to get rich, just earn a decent income....closest tanning is 12 miles in any direction(monthly packages are 65.00, or 6.00 a session there).. what kind of overhead could i expect? Insurance, utilities, ect...any input will be very much appreciated..... |

I wouldn't buy 2 new ---- I'd go with used. While you may not want to get "rich" - you do want it to be worth your time. 2 beds will not make enough money - without anything else in the business - to pay the rent and pay you even minimum wage to sit there all day. Your biggest cost you won't expect or be able to plan for well will probably be the electric. I'd put in a sunless as well - used Mystic booth or airbrush . What sort of rent cost and how much space? |

What other things do people have to drive 12 miles to get? For example: Combine it with a small gym? (like a curves/circuit type thing) Offer nails/massage/hair/..... some other beauty service? Small clothing re-sale shop? Kids clothes? Make & sell beaded jewelry (a few members have had success with this) Get a movie rental set-up (like "Red Box" - not sure who can get those....) Re-sale/consignment shop for video games or sports equip? Think of things that MANY use/need. In general, only about 10% of the population tans. In your town, that is only 200 people. Not enough to be worth it, on it's own. | |
