Re: Buying a Salon...good or bad idea?

Thanks for the advise, most of you are saying exactly what I was thinking but since I'm new to the industry I wanted to be sure my thoughts/feelings were accurate. Of course I would never buy anything without proof so I would ask him to show me the proof that he did increase business/sales from the time he bought it til now. I will say I'm going in with eyes wide open though. Usually when it sounds too goog to be true, it is!

In response to not getting rich, of course I want to make money...dont be crazy. I'm just saying I dont expect to be a millionaire from a tanning salon. I enjoy the industry and if I can make what I'm making now but without having to work for "the man" then why not, right? I'd rather bust my butt for my own business then to do so making someone else all the money. I wasnt saying I want to break even or take a loss, I just want to make what will give me a comfortable living (or better if possible). I'm going to work hard to do the best I can and make the most I can, obviously but at the same time I want to be realistic.

Re: Buying a Salon...good or bad idea?

Trust me..after over 25 years, I wish I was working for the man..at least come 5 o'clock I can go home...weekends free..time off with the family...a 401K in place, my insurance paid for...no stress at the beginning of each month..no stress in the middle of the month...no stress at the end of the month...salary on a weekly basis..."working for the man" has a lot of benefits that being a 'biz owner' does not offer.
Don't cut it short.

Re: Buying a Salon...good or bad idea?

I dont think people that are not business owners understand until they are in with both feet! When you work for someone else, you have one boss...when you work for yourself, everyone is your boss. Think about it like this...If you owned your own business and worked twice as much as you do now, yet made no more money...or even less money...would that be something you would like to do?

This seller is full of $h1t

SunPerf> I assume, based on location, you are in Mobile Alabama..

If so, you know about Club Sun Tanning. That would be a very hard competitor to compete with. They started over 20 years ago with one salon and now have about 20+ thru out The Panhandle from Mobile to Panama City Beach..all corporate own with top equipment.
Clas A operation. I had visited their PCB locations...

Keep it in mind.
