Rep Power: 0 | Mobile Tanning Safety I am starting a mobile tanning business and my husbands biggest concern is safety going to customer's homes (people I don't know). Has this been an issue for anyone and how to you weed out your customers making sure you are visiting actual customers. I will not be working with an assistant until my business gets off of the ground so it will be alone going to clients homes. Any input would be great. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Mobile Tanning Safety I am concerned too I haven't really gone mobile official because I am new and still working through my family and friends and have set up my extra bedroom as my tan room. I have a full-time job so I am really trying to promote tan parties through referrals and I have my daughter 16 going with me but I am worried about the single tans for non referral people... I hope someone else posts to give some input!!! Other mobile tanners please post!! |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Mobile Tanning Safety I've done mobile for the last 2 years and havent had an issue. My husband and I set up a system (initally) that made him feel better about the situtation. What we did was...I made sure I left him the address and phone number to where I was going. Then I would call him as soon as I was going in and as soon as I was done. He knew exactly how long to expect me to be in there and if he didnt hear from me then he would call me. I also brought with me pepper spray (just in case). I would only go alone to female clients. If I had a male client I would always bring someone as back up/security. Either a friend or my husband or anyone that was available. I would also let them (males) know at the time they booked I would be bringing security with me. Anyone who questions you about that, DONT SEE THEM. Most clients agree that its smart. :) The other thing is...if you really think about it, unless they plan on killing you (which I guess could happen, but probably not too likely), someone wouldnt really take the time to rob you or something becuase you know where they live. You can go right to the police and report them. Of course there is always a risk but just take the extra few step to protect yourslef and you should be fine. The one last "rule" I always live by is..."If it doesnt feel right, then dont go" You can usually get a vibe from the person on the phone or when you pull up to a house if you get a bad vibe, cancel. |

Rep Power: 14 | Re: Mobile Tanning Safety I agree, check out the address through public records whever you can and get peoples full name and address before hand, I have not had a problem but did experience and uncomfortable situation this week. I will be carrying mace for now on and actually getting my concealled weapons permit. Can never be too careful, Always ask who will be in the house so you somewhat know what to expect. What I do is go to the door first to introduce myself and leave stuff in the car. If when you go to the door you have a bad vibe you have a reason to go back to your car. If you show up at the door with eveything it it not as easy. Bottom line is that use your gut, if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe LEAVE, do not worry abt being "unprofessional" etc. Your saftey is #1. I also have a fullk time job and spraying 1 person or so nights/weekends per job is profitable. Just make sure you are using a territory close to your home so you are not soending too much time driving, I will go further for a party or bridal etc because a few people are at 1 location making it cost effective to drive further |
