Rep Power: 0 | Thinking about opening a business I am thinking about opening a business here in Los Angeles. The main part of my business is going to be selling nutrition products for athletes such as protein powders, creatine, glutamine, pre-workout mixes, post workout mixes, etc. The smaller portion of my business i want to put 2 - 3 tanning beds. maybe two lay down and one stand up. or two stand up 1 lay down.....anyways.....my main question would be what do i have to look at when looking into a location about tanning beds. I was reading on here about the electrical work has to be done a certain way in the building? How can i tell if there is enough electricity to power my beds? I know i will have to have an electrician install certain outlets in the room which isnt a problem but i dont think i am willing to spend over 3000 to do this. Level 2 beds good enough for regular electricity? I will be competing against GNC and the tanning will be a revolving door to get people into the store. Please excuse me if I dont make sense, i just signed up today. Still researching. |

If you do not plan on spending more than 3k for electrical upgrades (and it will be needed for any beds to be competitive), you may as well as nix your plan....in an average 'new salon' being built from bottom-up, electrial can cost 30K and more for a good salon to be competitive with HP beds and more. Not to rain on your parade, but LA is a very 'tan vain' city. With many top salons there, how do you plan to stand out by being a GNC-like storefornt with a tanning bed in the back room? Besides, I just do not see the corelation bewteen a nutrient/vitamin supply store and tanning. Why not just offer spray tanning ? A great deal cheaper. |
