I lost an employee cause she was going to have a baby and knew "medical" would pay for her delivery if she was unemployed. Some days I feel so stupid for being a small business owner. Im dont have enough staff to run the tanning so Im here with my daughter instead of at the park. I cant sell my business for what I have invested and employees want to get paid for just sitting around. We have taken a hard hit with tanning. My mom said it best "its hard to get anywhere when even the government is against you." Oh and no tanner for an hour now ..... oh happy days |

We are having great weather mid Oct which is odd (low to mid 80s all week) I sat down and re-read my business plan last week and noticed a few interesting things. I don't want to share how we are doing so well as many of our competitors read these forums. I would bet many of you can do much better than you're doing if you re-think, re-visit and re-focus on your business/marketing plan. Some salons will fail in these hard as **** economic times (some need to) but others will find new ways to do things that will help them grow. If you do what you did yesterday (and yesterday sucked) you will fail. |

Rep Power: 22 | Re: Getting burnt out I had a fair September, down from last year, and that was not good. My October, so far has been slow, but only because it's been so hot here, in the eighties. Well, yesterday did cause me to be invigorated and gave me some sort of excitment. This weekend is college homecoming and I did more sales yesterday, then in the last 7 days combined. I think I did over 10 spray tans , and sold 5 $100 bottles of lotion. Just when you think no one is tanning anymore, All heck breaks loose and you have a breakout day. I'm going to enjoy it while I can. Now I can put a few more goodies on my Viper.lol Last edited by parrot head; 10-16-2010 at 07:42 AM. Reason: spelling |

Rep Power: 17 | Re: Getting burnt out September was up nearly 100%. Oct is doing well but will probably be close to last year. Two reasons why we're up is we're cheaper and we're pushing higher packages because we're bundling services. |
