Yes, that would be completely ridiculous to ignore everything that has been spoon fed to you here. I mean, after all, we are just 20 year vets looking to better the industry and help those along that are new to it.

Don't forget that you were never an owner and don't really know what it takes to own a salon and besides, it was 10 years ago that you were an employee and then absent thereafter so it would be in your best interest to heed all warnings and advice given to you on this site since your recent enrollment here.

We have zero vested interest in you, your salon, or weather or not you succeed or fail, it makes no difference to us if you make it or p.iss away your life savings and end up in Divorce Court and Bankruptcy Court and take up residence in This Old Box® under the bridge. That should tell you right there that you should take everything you learned here with the utmost attention and apply it.

Don't forget, the current owner is interested in getting every bit of what he/she can out of the sale and leave you holding the cards. They will tell you everything you want to hear to get you to sign on the dotted line.

The advice you are getting is solid and from experience. Many of us here have either owned, consulted, and worked in this industry for many years. All of the mistakes are right here for you to sniff out. It doesn't get any easier than that. We did the suffering so you can reap the benefits.

Re: Will You Share Your PCA Please?

Obviously I am here to learn from ya'll, otherwise I wouldn't be asking questions. And I was the one that pointed out that it's been so long for me that I want to get up to date on things. Why would you take that and slam me w/it?

I was simply responding that I wasn't going to base my whole purchasing of a salon on what one person here might say about any one thing. (Sally was implying that I shouldn't be asking what others PCA is before I sign the papers, as if that is the only question/answer I will use to make a decision). I would add a collaboration of what is said here to use as knowledge.

Did you not read that I look up to Sally? I was being complimentary in that I want to learn from her.

Re: Will You Share Your PCA Please?

How about responding to the list I posted. It would be to your benefit to get direct feedback to what you are actually buying unless of course you have an unlinited amout of money to waste.

Re: Will You Share Your PCA Please?

See, if you were interested in learning then you would be answering those questions but instead you pick up on what I said about not being in the business for a long period of time and never in the seat of liability.

This tells me that you are buying this place with your heart and not your head. No matter what anyone says to you, yu will buy this place even if it is the worst deal on the planet. The questions that you ask are not condusive to the purchase. Asking questions like figuring out PPA and should you do appointments are not going to help you at this point in the game. You should be answering the questions I asked and Sunsally has posted and take that feedback to decide if you should walk away or not or determine if you are being taken for a ride or not but from your posts you are not interested in the possible truth as you have already made up your mind and that is dangerous and poor business sense.

If this place is a dog are you willing to walk away or will you be emotionally attached and ride that sinking ship down the whirilpool?

Do you have what it takes to be in business for yourself?

I have all of these answers, plus some that aren't listed here, but others have suggested or that I've thought of on my own. I am not able to find anything that is telling me to halt the purchase. Obviously if I find it, I will stop proceeding. At this point, my attorney, broker, cpa and loan officer aren't seeing any red.

I don't think it will do any good for me to post all of the answers to these questions because you have already made up your mind. In your opinion, not knowing me or any of my numbers, I shouldn't be purchasing this business. Dedication, passion mean nothing. The fact that it is one of the surviving salons in the US doesn't matter. (WTH would anyone want to buy one that is in the deficit?!? I certainly wouldn't).

The kind people that haven't publicly posted since early 2009 or earlier, the ones that privately msg'd me to warn me of the "elite" members that like to "bully" others when I first joined this site, the ones that I was brushing off, are proving correct!

People that they specifically mentioned as being a "bully" are now attacking me.

It's not about sharing facts, either. It's about attacking someone's thoughts or ideas.

I didn't want to believe it. Yet here it is happening!

Re: Will You Share Your PCA Please?

PS

I approached him. He didn't have the business listed for sale. He wasn't looking around to dump the salon. I had been made aware of some issues he is having in his personal life and decided to approach him. He is making money. I can make more money. I already know of several tweaks to make that will guarantee to increase profit.

Re: Will You Share Your PCA Please?

The only ones that are scared away are those afraid to discuss the truth. Good luck.

Re: Will You Share Your PCA Please?

They aren't afraid of discussing the truth. According to them, and I know there are two sides to every story, but they are just not wanting to come under attack for questions they ask or things they do in their salon, when it is working for them.

There are ways of offering opinions, suggestions, and advice in a civil manner so others don't feel attacked.

Isn't this a site for salon business owners to discuss with each other? Do you have a salon, in the process of acquiring one, or are you a distributor?

Re: Will You Share Your PCA Please?

DeterminedMama it won't take you long to weed out those selling behind the scenes and those that are actually here for the salon owners benefit. ;)
