Bed levels

I recently purchased a salon. We have 4 different levels of beds. However, I'm confused about the rationale behind how the previous owner created her "levels".

Our Level 1 beds are Tan America VIP 3200 beds with 120 watt lamps, 20 minute max.

Our Level 2 beds are Tan America VIP 4200 beds with 160 watt reflector lamps, 15 minute max.

Our Level 3 beds are ProSun Onyx beds with 100 watt lamps on the bottom, and a mix of 100 watt and 80 watt (!!) lamps on the top (plus a facial), 15 minute max.

Nobody likes the Level 3 beds because they are too wussy. Meanwhile, the Level 2 beds will cook you. I was thinking of making the Level 3 beds into Level 1s, however, the bed max is 15 minutes (so I'd have a mix of 15 and 20 minute beds at Level 1, which is lame).

Another option I thought of is to put "hotter" (yes, I know I'm not supposed to use that word) lamps into the Onyxs, so I'd be left with level 1 is wussy, level 2 is a cooker, and level 3 is a cooker with facials, thus justifying the different price levels. I'm just wondering if anyone has an idea why the previous owner put these lousy beds at Level 3. They suck.

Your level 3 are level 1- drop them. Maybe a single session rate for this bed could be an extra dollar or so above your TA 3200 units.

Are you regulated?

If you are, you must be +/- 10% of the original lamp.

What kind of ballasts are in Onyx?

A 100 watt ballast will only drive a 160 watt lamp at 100 watts.

Re: Bed levels

the FT is why she thought it would make a great L3 bed....Onyx is a high end home unit...bring it to L1. The TA beds will out tan it anyday!
Your mix now should be Onyx L1, TA32 L2 and TA42 L3....I would replace the Onyx and get some money makers in there.
