Should I add a stand up bed or not ?

I currently have ten beds in my salon and none of which are stand up units. Of my ten beds, five of them are 20 minute lower pressure beds. I am considering removing one of those beds and replacing it with a stand up unit. does this sound like a good idea? are stand up units profitable enough alone to even worry about? I could get a new unit for under 10k, but I am not wanting to spend extra money if I don't have to ... BUT at the same time, if the stand up units are popular and profitable on their own then maybe I should? what would you guys recommend?

What part of the country are you in?

You can get a great used Suncapsule for 3-6K depending on what level (160w, 200w or 220w) unit you want.

Standup is not as popular, but it shows you offer a full range of options. Are your customers asking for it? Men use it more than women, do you have many male clients?

honestly I don't get a lot of request for a stand up unit, maybe 1 or 2 a month. Its more so me wanting to have a wide range of options. Like I said above I have low, medium, and high pressure beds along with spray tanning , but the only thing I am lacking is a stand up. I have a good amount of male customers. probably at least 20% of my customers are male.

The bed that I am looking at is Heartlands Tribute 160. It looks really nice and is in the area of $7K brand new.

Buy a good used booth if you're going to get one. The Tribute is far from your best option.

I have read excellent reviews on this message board for Heartland's beds though. However, I definitely appreciate the suggestion because I am new to the stand up units. I was quoted in the area of $7K for the tribute and to me that seemed EXCELLENT for a brand new unit.

What other used stand up units would you guys recommend? price range? hours? good site to get them?,etc.

The Tribute is a small booth. I have both the 2M and the Sundazzler. Contrary to what Brian and Robert will say they are great booths.

To replace a 20 minute bed with a booth running 9-12 minutes you are in a far better position to turn more sessions per hour.... With a 160W and shorter tan time, I am sure you will see people converting to that from your 20 min beds. Snag Roberts Cyclone if you can....I personally love my Sundazzler, but get a used booth..most are pretty basic in operation and maintenance.
