Re: Starting a mobile airbrush tanning business

Just a note to the Trunk Slammers Union® mobile spray tanners society, this is a site for professional salon owners, manufacturers, and industry personnel, buying a spray unit and putting it in the back of your car does not make you a professional.

Professionals are certified in one of the industry recognized courses and have hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in their businesses. To come on here and ask stupid questions and make statements that you would like to start your own mobile business and quite frankly ask the seasoned professionals to give you all of the answers is just down right annoying and disrespectful. What you are attempting to do is encroach on some of their business without any risk and you want it all handed to you without doing any of the work yourselves.

This is not a beginners site. We are not here to tell you how to get started. If you bring a business plan and some common sense to the table then you will most likely be taken more seriously than those that ask: "I want to start a mobile spray business, what do I need to do?"

Start by searching and reading all of the posts already here, don't just start a new one without a little basic knowledge of what you are getting into first.

Have you come up with a business name? Have you registered it? Did you incorporate? Do you have a phone number? Are you advertising it? Did you get insurance? Are you networking your services? Do you have any business experience? Have you taken a business course? Did you write a business plan? Have you researched manufacturers? Have you pulled demographics on your area? Have you determined if anyone else in your area is already doing this and how many?

Do you have what it takes to be in business for yourself?

Re: Starting a mobile airbrush tanning business

If you have not taken any training corses, I would definately say that you need to "practice" spraying approx. 15-20 people, free of charge, so that you can get basic knowledge on how to spray. Even with training, I would still practice on quite a few people.......

I don't personally use the Infinity Spa, so I have no pointers to give you on the system......Except practice makes perfect)

Start with family and friends and word of mouth travels......do the basic free advertising and give business cards to everyone you know.

The price per client would depend completely on the area you are in....Some get $20 a spray, while others get $60....Very wide range...... I would personally do a "special", if you are just starting out and do the 1st 10-20 clients at 1/2 proce (JMO)

As far as advertising, there is a ton of "freebie" stuff you can do and of course, you will have to have money out of posket to really get good clientale (word of mouth is usually good, if you do a great job) You can get free business cards and car magnets, etc. @ VistaPrint.com (that is where I get alot of my stuff)

Good Luck to you!

Money is money and a business, a business, if you are making the dough, regardless of whether you are completely mobile.....you have to start somewhere and I personally think doing mobile as you begin is a good first step and if it is something that you are doing great at, then get a space. (Again JMO) :)

Once again Good Luck to you and I hope your soon to be business goes & grows well :)

^^^The first thing she needs to do is take a business course, not a spray course.

^^^All the same. It is atomized fluid applied to the body. What the delivery system whether it be mounted in a box or at the end of your arm and what you charge for it makes no difference. "UGH!!!!!"

You are a hater! The world we live in today. You think her ?'s are stupid, whatever, who are you!
Learn to support other people, or act like a know it all stuck up salon owner. You may make the dough now, but Id rather have character than money. Because in the end we all the same!
The good thing is there are alot of people on this site who dont think as selfishly and egotistical as you.
People who are new can research and start how they feel is best for them. If they fail they will learn from their own mistakes, but who are you to try to make them stumble, or feel inaticquit. Personally if I can help another with a step I will. Even you and you holy than though approach to the tanning world.
