As for changing tanning lamps... consult with your distributor of the lamps or establish a store policy using the information about the life hours of the particular lamps used.. I could throw out a number... but... if you use lamp changes, marketing, expense control measures and a plethera of other info like some salons do.... Its not that easy. | |

With that said, I have a few questions to help answer YOUR original Question... What Kind of beds/booths does your newly bought salon have? What are the lamps in each of those beds/booths? How many hours are currently on them? Most importantly, do you want to be an "Aggressive", "Normal" or "Money Saving" salon? This is important because only YOU will know what your clients want. Example: there are 3 salons operating in my area, one of them is barely floating- so they are definitely a "money Saving" salon when it comes to changing lamps. They let the lamps GO and GO and GO until people are complaining (Im talking letting the lamps go to 800-1000 hours before changing them). The 2nd one is a "normal" salon as to changing lamps (they are changing them at like 700-800 hours. Then there is MY salon where we are "aggressive" (I change my lamps at about 500-550 hours). Out of the 3 salons, people KNOW that when you tan at MY salon, your gonna get color everytime you come. You see something the first visit. I use the BEST lamps Possible, with the MOST UVA/UVB output.... I dont care what it costs, because Im cranking with business. If you want to MAKE money, you cant be afraid to spend it. Lamp Choice is also a BIG BIG BIG important factor. I suggest you call John Hayes @ URI (UltraViolet Resources) and have a long talk with him. He has NEVER steered me wrong, and he sells the best lamps in the industry HANDS DOWN. I personally use Magic Sun Heraeus Lamps (they have a REALLY high UVB with high amounts of UVA to boot. My clients prefer them over EVERYTHING. They BLOW Cosmedico, LSI, AUVL, Wolf, RAVE etc. out of the water.
