They are comfortable and deliver a great tan. Anyone else second that? |

Base beds are the least of your worries -- you need to be more concerned about your upgrade equipment where you make your money! 2. My first reaction is - don't put in 20 min beds at all! Put in "base beds" - but have them be 15 min and increase your turnaround rate! 3 15 minute beds can see as many as 4 20 minute beds in a day. Why buy an extra bed to see the same number of customers and make the same money?? 3. What is your budget? If I had $2k/bed to spend I would make one choice. If I had $8k/bed to spend I might make another. Or I might STILL buy the $2k/bed choice and save the money!! Lots of threads about equipment. You will have "criteria" that will be more important to you than they may be to someone else. Things to consider include: 1. Price 2. Features (facials or not, radios, fans,....) 3. Comfort/size of the unit (all generally small, but some more/less than others) 4. Ease in maintaining the unit - changing lamps, acrylics,... 5. Reliability of the unit 6. Tech support 7. "Looks" - fit, finish, design,... Those are a start. Nobody can say that one of those is MORE important than another - that is where your personal judgment comes in. Some beds are higher on some criteria and lower on others. The "best" will be the ones that best fit YOUR prioritization of those items! |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: New Salon 1. You know i never thought about putting 15min beds instead of 20min beds that makes since, my only concern would be the price. I found in my area and what other salons are doing would people pay the difference at my salon compared to going some were else? As far as my upgrade bed goes that has been a tuff choice as well, I no i can't put a real high tech expensive bed in for several reasons. Most importantly the cost and second of all i don't think it would go over well. I don't like to judge people but were i live people are very resisent to change and were way behind the times compared to california. 2. My budget is flexible for the beds but i still want the best deal and equipment. My space is a little over 1300sq ft. and with the layout i can get around 10 beds in there or maybe more. I don't want to use the same beds as my competitors in my opinion and correct me if im wrong i wanted to use a little better bas bed than they have. I know my money is going to be with my high pressure beds. But i need something that is going to bring them over to me even though the closet salon to me is about a 20min drive. Ive tanned in there base beds and i personally think there not very good. There very old but they are also very large salon. There beds arn't very accomadating to larger people either. 3. I have worked in a salon in the past but that by no means makes me an expert. Im lucky in a sense cause my sister in law has 2 salons so im using her knowledge. The only problem with using her in buying beds is she is about an hour and a half from me and hers are in the country and im closer to the city,so she draws college kids cause she's located by a college. So her beds and prices are a little cheaper than what i can do if i do what she has than ill for sure go under. Most college kids don't have a whole lot of money at least when i went i didn't ( im not juding any one). Thank You for all the advice and comments it has been very helpful! |

Rep Power: 20 | Re: New Salon Yup....that's for sure. And sunsally is right. Forget the base beds, find some used beds and throw them in there. They are not the ones making you the money, the upgrade beds are. If it were up to me doing it all over again. I would NOT put any base beds in. I'd start with a 40+ lamp/160W VHR as my base bed Then go up to a big VHR or Combo VHR/HP like a S-Class, Prestige 1100, Sungate or the Ergo 650 combo Then go to HP like Matrix, Magic etc... i wouldn't bother with base beds at all...no money to be made. I can do 20ppl a day and make the same as a salon doing 80+ in base beds. Why work so hard....
