You'll need at least three - four times the amount of traffic if you have all base beds vs. having good beds. And you don't need that many either. Buy used and you'll save thousands and be able to outfit the salon with the best of the best.

Many people just dont pay attention when you tell them stuff about the beds, they would think your 40 lamp bed was like the 32 lamp bed at the other place they used to tan, It's easier to upsell when they can see the beds next to each other. |

Rep Power: 20 | Re: New Salon So you think that a Matrix or Ergo 650 or Magic or King or S-Class or Sungate look like the beds down the street? Their high beds will be equal to your lowest bed and THAT is what you tell your customers. They aren't that dumb. When customers walk in and look at my beds they say WOW...i've never seen beds like this before. I tell them...there is a reason for that, because you haven't been here before.;)

Rep Power: 18 | Re: New Salon In small town America, you need base beds, IMO. I would put in 15 (and I did switch to them) min base beds, you can tan more BPH (new term Butts Per Hour) than with 20 min beds. If you have 4 15 min. (that equates to 16 BPH) base beds, now compare that to 4 20 min base beds (12 BPH), ASSuming total utilization. Take your time and look around, after busy season ends there should be a lot of high quality used equipment to choose from. |

I have had customers confuse a 40 lamp baby vhr and a 32 lamp bed. People dont pay attention, a few yrs ago a chick said to my business partner "hey that car looks like yours" It was a yellow cab she saw, and he had a brand new yellow Dodge Viper! Some people pay no attention at all! | |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: New Salon I would love to start with a couple 15min beds as my base beds but do you charge the same for 15min beds compared to a 20min bed? So your saying go with 15mins as a base bed and than have 12min beds and a high pressure bed? Ive been looking for some used KBL 3500 for my base beds if any one can suggest a web site or a seller for me i would apperciate it. Thanks for all the posts and help! |

Rep Power: 20 | Re: New Salon My Dr. Kern is a 46lamp, 6 shoulder tanners, 4 HP lamps, contoured acrylics, built in a/c. This is what i'd start off with. That in now way looks like a base bed. Then from there move up. There are beds out there that do not look like a base bed. Example....Icon, even as low as an Elixir 40/3 160W. Silver Bullet 44/3 160W. Many options to choose from that can get you $15 a session EASILY.

Rep Power: 19 | Re: New Salon Icon and Silver bullet are over 20k new and pretty **** big. You said a 40 lamp as a base, sure when you move to 46 lamps and up they wont think its a base bed. The Elixer is a 40 lamp bed that would work as a high lev base bed, but it was 40 lamps no facials and still a 15 min bed. and it still cost over 10k and pulled over 38 amps! you would lose a ton on electric. |
