I recently purchased a salon and could use ideas that are working great for marketing, advertising, employees, etc. I was trying to think of some customer incentives, drawings, contests or anything else fun for customers as well as employees to maximize efficiency and moral. I am in GA if you're concerned about giving good ideas to competition. All ideas would be appreciated.

In my salon we do a "marble count" every month. I run the marble count for the first 2 weeks of the month. I use a large glass jar, put marbles and or candy in it.(I tape the lid shut..no cheating allowed!) Some of the marble counts are holiday themed. ex) In Aug, I did a Hot August nights theme. I used the candy "hot tamales" and "red hots" mixed with marbles. Every time the customer comes in, they are allowed to guess how many hot tamales and how many red hots. (I keep a sign in sheet on the counter) They can guess everytime they come in. Whoever comes closest without going over for each catagory (hot tamales and red hots) wins 2 free weeks. Whoever guesses the exact amount wins a free month. There are times when I have multiple winners. I always honor all the winners. Sometimes I have 2 or 3 customers who came up with the same number without going over, so each of those customers gets 2 free weeks. My customers LOVE IT !! Even if they don't win, they like to see how close or far off they were. It keeps them coming back for more!! Hope this idea helps. Good Luck.
P.S. I always let someone outside of the salon keep the count numbers. I don't even know them. This keeps the contest honest, so you can tell the customers when they ask, "I don't even know the correct count"
