Rep Power: 0 | Help Me Start A Tanning Salon Let me start off by saying I am brand new to owning/managing a tanning salon. In fact, I dont own/manage one..... yet. I think I have the perfect location and don't want to pass this opportunity up. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Location: I am looking at a place with about 2800 sq ft. in prime location It is in an upscale area, near restaurants, gyms, and it has thousands of people via foot traffic every day. Even better, there is no tanning salon near by. Lease: What should I be asking for? How long should I lease it for? 5 years, 10 years? Equipment: With about 2800 sq ft, I dont even know where to beggin. How many beds without being too crowded? Should I leave empty rooms in the back for expanding rather than open with all the beds at once? How many different beds should I have? Considering its up scale, should I include low pressure beds? Who do you suggest I go through when purchasing? In Short, I need to know how to get this off the ground. I would really appreciate some input. I know you all are very knowledgeable and I am ready to learn. Thank you and good luck to all. |

During this time, I have also been in talks with the leasing agent so not to lose what I think is potentially the best tanning location in my area. I may not be knowledgeable in the tanning industry, but thats exactly why I registered here today. I am trying inform myself as fast as possible before taking any major steps and or losing my location. All information is appreciated. Thank you. |

Rep Power: 22 | Re: Help Me Start A Tanning Salon 2,500 sq feet is not much. 12 bed salon at most I would think. Also you have to keep electrical services in mind. Minimum 400 amp with that square footage - but that depends a lot on the beds you plan to install. In my opinion and based on your brief description of the location, it may be too small a location.

Picking the beds is part of my dilemma. I don't want to overcrowd it, but I also want to have a good ratio between different types of beds/booths. In the landlord description, it states: I cannot exceed 3 (4) ton units. Anything else, I have to pay for. Electrical is 200 amp 3 phase 480 volt main feeding (a), 200 amp 3 phawse 480/277 volt lighting pannel, (b), 150 amp 3 phase 208/120 volt sub panel for electric outlets, (c), 45 KVA transformer for above panel. | |

In a 200 sq foot area I have a 15 foot service counter, employee area with washer/dryer as well as an extra room for a small bed or sunless.
