level 1 - any 100 watt lamp bed level 2 any 160 watt and up layday or standup level 3 HP or sunless Now with that being said. I would only start with maybe 2 or 3 level 1, 2 level 2, and 1 level 3. You can always add units when you need them. Save your money now and add units when needed.

Rep Power: 25 | Re: Purchasing an Established Salon I disagree with Tomorrow Sun, I'd be more likely to go with your model. However - really depends what you think those "levels" will be. I'd also have spray (maybe a booth maybe custom spray, maybe both). I might put in other services (teeth whitening, body wraps,...) I think the mix of equipment depends less on the demographics and a lot more on how you plan to price and market your salon as well as your costs to know what mix will make you enough money to be profitable. For 1875 s.f. I'd try to squeeze in more units. I have 2100 s.f. and 15 - including 1 room that does two different services (teeth whitening & body wraps). A/C will probably cost you 1-1.5K/ton. You are probably looking at about 15K there. What is the competition like? How close is the next closest salon? How many total beds in the 1, 3 & 5 mile radius from your proposed salon? Do you have Darque Tan, Planet Tan, or Palm Beach Tan's in your area? What is the rent? How much capital do you have and what sort of credit rating? At this point, these are the much more relevant questions for you than your specific bed mix. You are still a ways from picking out a bed mix or beds if you want to make sure this can be successful. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Purchasing an Established Salon Hi, I'm new here and have a question. I worked for a tanning salon as a manager for 6 months last year, the owner was having a tough time and I started to think about purchasing his salon. One thing led to another, he was evicted from 1 of his locations and there was too much drama, so I quit and started researching buying my own salon. I found a few, 1 in particular I entered into talks - owner refused to discuss finances without an offer and my argument was that how can I make an offer without knowledge of finances........long story short, owner moved on and so did I. I found another salon - only airbrush and entered into talks with them, the owner of the other salon magically reappeared just before I entered into contract with the airbrush place. I declined the airbrush place and entered into negotiations with the previous salon owner again. We agreed upon a price, and I had an offer to purchase created and now the owner has disappeared again. Can't get the landlord to contact me to discuss the lease. It seems to me whenever I get close to contract, these owners just disappear. Is somebody trying to tell me something? |
