How do you think the conventions have changed? By the way, thank you for your response.
The only real certification you need is A BACKGROUND IN BUSINESS. These other tanning certs are nice for an intro on how tanning works or insurance discounts or whatever but hardly necessary in terms of education.

Get into the science of tanning and you'll be ahead of 90% of the other salons in the area. People have NO CLUE why your skin even tans or what tanning lotion is for.

Real easy stuff but people just refuse to listen/learn.

See, my problem is that this tells you nothing. You need actual GROSS REVENUE of this place. What it took in TOTAL. You don't care about what the owner isn't paying for to come to this profit. If it needs $20K in tanning lamps/beds/repairs then there's really no profit.

But that's all small talk cause it's all about what the salon is list price is. If it's $100K then run for the hills. If it's $20K then you have something there.
I will try to find out the gross as soon as I get a response from him. I've been doubting him since he seems a little disorganized. But thank you so much for your help.

Ok. That's good. I'm trying to learn what I can but it's certainly different from other things I've learned in life. Thanks again.

Absolutely go to the conference before you purchase anything. That is where you can network with so many salon owners and really did deep for answers to all your questions. I have purchased two up and running salons and pretty much gave them a full facelift to make them mine. As far as the location...a salon 10 miles away is not competition so don't even worry about how they do, if anything the people closer to you will quit driving so far once they realize there is a better salon closer to them. BOOK NASHVILLE!!!

Buying New Beds

When purchasing new beds, is there negotiating room on the price? Is it like a car with wiggle room or like regular retail items that the price is set firm?

Humble, TX. I'm not sure what I'm looking for exactly yet. Just trying to figure out a mix of beds that would be good and trying to determine how much I'm looking at spending.

haha. Well, I'm still trying to figure out a lot of stuff. I'd rather not waste anyone's time. I'm really just wondering and trying to prepare myself for a grand total to determine if I can actually make plans to do something with.
