Rep Power: 0 | Help?! I need some advice... We bought our salon in June and since then it has been slow-really slow. We have had a hard time paying rent, payroll, and other bills all in the same month without putting in more money. I would like to know if this is normal or did we buy a lemon. The salon has been around for 6 years and has had an outstanding reputation so its not that. We are just sick of pouring more and more money into this place...Should we call it like it is and quit or keep on truckin'?? Any advice would be great- Thank you |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: Help?! You bought your salon at the begining of the slow season. July to Nov are the slowest times of the year for most salons. We all have to put in money during this time of year. Just hang on and get your game plan for the up coming season ready to go! |

Rep Power: 25 | Re: Help?! If you already bought it -- it can't make you ANY money not installed and running! 75% of most salon's money are made Jan-June. You bought at the top of the "slow season". Don't know if they also pre-sold a bunch of packages or anything else -- but this is the tough time to ride out. Hopefully you had seen that in their numbers you reviewed on the previous 6 years and can get a sense of if you are still "on track" - or losing ground. Have you emailed your data base with a special to try to bring them in? Perhaps Tan 'till 2008 at the price of a normal month? (e.g. basically 50% off since 2 months left)? How about "Buy 10 sessions, get 2 free. Buy 20, get 5 free". Do you have a big banner in your window promoting any specials or trying to get "tanning" on people's minds? Are you working there some yourself, to get a "handle" on what selling (if any) is being done? Is it the same staff or did you hire new staff? Do they know what they are doing? This time of year -- have to DRAG them in! They don't just come -- have to give them a too-hard-to-refuse reason. |
