Rep Power: 0 | A sensitive issue /question Hello everyone, The owner of our salons and I read this forum religiously, but haven't posted. We'd like to say thanks for all the great advice we've found here. It's a wealth of information. We are wondering how each of you address the issue of a client's weight when it comes to using the tanning beds. We have been told our acrylics will support up to 285...maybe in a stretch up to 300. However we were also told that if someone at that weight decides to turn in the bed, they could "shatter" the acrylics. This came from the manufacturer. There are some larger ladies who frequent our salon whose weight is questionable for us. Anyone have any ideas how we might tactfully handle this situation with current and new clients ? Thanks very much for your suggestions. :) |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: A sensitive issue /question This is a very touchy subject for some. We have some rather larger guest and we have a couple of beds that we have had problem with a larger guest utlilizing them and broke several expensive acrylics, soooooo This is how we approach it. We show the guest our beds and when we get to a bed we know that will not handle their weight, we politely advice this bed is an excellent bed for most our our guest but we say, "this bed will not be as comfortable or will not perform as efficently for you as bed X or our standup. These guest know without saying where you are going, but professionally you are directing them with their best interest at hand. If the client plays "dumb" you basically tell the truth: This bed will not be the bed for you to get that even tan. There will be parts of your body that will be harder to tan. Then you lead them again and direct them to the bed of "YOUR" choice. Its your money and your expensive acrylic. You are not turning them down just giving them the best direction for the best tan! |

Rep Power: 17 | Re: A sensitive issue /question seems like there is always a "large client day"-not really an even pattern, but seems to always fall on a certain day of the week! it's like i'm on pins and needles all day wondering if the beds are going to with-stand the added "stress" . this is what i TRY to do, whenever i give a tour to a new client, and if they are on the heavier side, i will always point out the upgraded, larger beds, and let them know that "these beds are always going to tan you more evenly, they are roomier, more air flow, more comfortable, etc. "the stand-up can get all of those hard to tan areas". this almost always works. however, there are always a few that just wont upgrade and dont care if and how it affects them or anyone else. so far i have been lucky....but....tomorrow is another day! |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: A sensitive issue /question Thanks very much for your help. Missmojorising...not exactly. ;-) Neonbeach- Thanks! I did a search prior to posting but missed it. Maybe I didn't use the right key words. Bravotan - The salon we're in now is small and we don't have a stand up. Construction has started on the new salon so maybe we should be thinking about a stand up??? When we went bed shopping after reading everything we could get our hands on we steered clear on the stand up. Maybe we should rethink that. Nigelappler - Well thank you. Totaleclipse1- We do have spray tanning . That's a good idea. SZ girl - That's what has me freaked out! Believe me, if it's going to happen to anyone it would be us. Thanks again! |

Rep Power: 24 | Re: A sensitive issue /question Tell them they need the larger unit because customers can only tan once a day by law. Since only 1/2 of their fat a$$ could fit the bed, it would require 2 sessions and you would get in trouble. Something discreet like that.
