I am glad i spent alot of time researching tanning salons, from the people i have talked to on this board and people on the streets, i have come to the conclusion the outlay of cash, and the return on my investment would be better served in other business opptys. More people should spend the time doing research on any business oppty, i see to many people jumping into things on a whim, then getting frustrated when it doesn't pan out as expected, i do not want to become one of those people. My girlfriends brothers wife was a waitress making about $800 a week, working at the same place for about 5 years, she got tired of it and decided she wanted to open a massage parlor, charging $40 per hour, she signed a 3 year lease on a 1800 sq foot space in a busy strip center here in Albuquerque, took out a 20k loan, all the credit she could get, the build out was included in her lease, so she only had to buy the massage beds and all of her other misc stuff she needed, and it's 8 months later and she has to close down, her biggest problem was not having enough capitol to stay open. She was warned by several people on the internet and family members her plan wouldn't work, she didn't want to hear it, now she is paying the ultimate price, her and her husband have to file BK now, she tried to get my to put in 20k when she started her venture, i almost did, but i had a hard time seeing the BIG picture, kinda like i have a hard time seeing the BIG picture opening a tanning salon, the outlay of cash is to much, the only people who would be making good money is the contractors and electricians and the people selling me the tanning beds, and the leasing agent leasing the space lol Goodluck guys (-:

I plan on nothing but profit... lol. you need to make good business decisions, have drive, energy, savings and a back up plan. :) |

There isn't any high end rehab centers in the Albuquerque area, and the "high end" places in California are always full and charge 80k a month, we only plan to charge 25k a month. The idea is right, the setting is right, it's gonna cost us 50k a piece for furniture for the house, and to have the things we need for a rehab center to get up and going, and since we are not buying the house, just lease option to buy, we don't have to put much down, the 150k will last us 3 months, but the potential returns on my money and theres is much greater than a tanning salon. I told them the only way i would go in is if they made me a full partner, there not to crazy about making me a full partner, they would rather have me a silent partner, get my 50k back to me asap, with 10% interest paid within 6 months, but i said that aint gonna happen lol So they are discussing it now on what they want to do with me, if they agree to my terms, and my attny agrees i am getting a good contract i will go forward, if not? back to the drawing board. But i can't afford to make to many mistakes, i only have a few hundred grand put away, and if i **** it away on bad business decisions i'll be scraping and skimping the rest of my life. I'm not saying a tanning salon isn't a good idea by anymeans, but the outlay of cash that is required upfront to get up and going for $10 tans isn't worth it to me.
