Need advice on beds!

Hello I'm I guess a pre-newbie, still in the business plan phase but trying to research the different types of beds out there is very overwhelming!! Any suggestions on which line is good, I'm starting out pretty small and basic and plan to expand as we go. I live in a somewhat small town that only has two other tanning salons which are nearly impossible to get into, thus my idea of opening my own. I had a guy call me from tanningonline.com they carry the tropical rayz line. Anyone ever dealt with them or any of their products? Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!

I am concerned that when people start thinking about opening a salon the first thing they do is look for equipment. The bed decision is one of the last steps. That is like buying your food supplies for a restaurant before you know what kind of restaurant you are going to be.

Re: Need advice on beds!

I think a bed decision should be one of the top three. location #1. look at competitions equipment so yours is equal or better. look at their packageing then decide your equipment so you can build your salon out to fit the equipment you choose. then a proper price structure for your equipment. then a proper marketing plane to get your salon roleing. many people spend all their money on build out and forget they need advertisement dollars. but I think it is important to know your equipment so you can build the size rooms you will need. and also so your electrician can wire it properly. so yes equipment is very important part after I find my loacation equipment is always my next step. But i also am paying cash for and am not wrighting a bussiness plan for a bank.

I agree, check out the comp first, find the location-but make sure it is big enough for the beds you think you want, then decide on your beds. Beds are not that much different as far as size, size of rooms needed, etc. etc. Your biggest concern is that you have the room space for any larger beds that you need. Take what the bed manufacturer tells you the room size needs to be, and subtract about 15% from that. They always want it bigger than it really needs to be to make it easy on them for delivery and installation. As far as picking your beds first and this being the "last step" per the earlier post, i don't agree with this. I mean once you look at the competition, decide what you want to use for beds, this would come earlier rather than later right? As far as buying food before you open a restaraunt, well tanning is a little different. You are going to decide on your beds quite early, since your space and buildout all hinge on this right?

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

Ha ha! Yeah, then go buy extra dry wall, patch and paint. And don't complain to the mfr when your acrylics start melting.

Re: Need advice on beds!

Has anyone ever used or dealt with TanAmerica and their beds. I heard they are hard to find used cuz they hardly ever get replaced and when they are for sale they go fast? Anyone out there have a TanAmerica bed?
