I stated in the other thread, I am in a small town surrounded by small towns. (nothing but base beds in the video- tanning, Beauty Shop-Tanning and so on). Tanning would have a hard time standing alone. If I ask 1,000 tanners in our area about our level 2 beds; 997 would want to know how to get to the second floor. (I am serious, really) I want to market and educate people to the tanning industry. This is why I study this forum!!! We are very serious about our business..............Any business I have ever started I have enough pride that I do not want to be inferior to anyone!! Same with this business. We offer Tanning, fitness and body wraps. All is doing very, very good. If not for the small business like us in this rural area, tanners would have to drive 30 to 40 miles round trip just to tan. Where does the pro start................6 beds....10 bed..... 20 beds.........3 ten bed salons.....Is the 6 bed salon less pro and to be looked down on than the 20 bed pro! The 12 bed salon that sell nothing but tanning lotion and moves in two blocks from you is also your competition. People like me come to this site to learn and do a better job in the tanning industry. I am sorry if you feel I am not professional. I can see the things you are talking about, but, can you see where I am comming from. Without some of us there would not be anything but home beds for most in our area. We have people come and buy our packages that left a tanning only salon in one of the larger cities (driving about 30 miles round trip) telling us how nice it is to have clean beds, clean rooms, hotter (hehe) lamps. (told you I need to educate some) The person adding the prosun to the hair salon could within a year or two with the help of this site be one of the most educated and helpful on here. Thanks again to all the people on this site for helping me!!!!!! You will never know how much you have done to make our business a success! We will KEEP growing because of the things you have taught us. Again let me assure you I know where you are comming from and I hope you understand what I have been trying to tell you. With the outside forces against us, we need to band together and fight for tanning and not tear each other down. Had you rather have a hair salon with 1 bed or a new professional 16 bed salon with plenty of money move in within a mile from you. Which would hurt you the most. Be honest! 1 bed or 60 makes you part of the tanning industry. The better educated everyone is makes for a better tanning industry. I think of Brandy is one of the most professional on this site. I think by some of her post she like me has another job. Does that rule her out as a professional. I don`t believe anyone would would think so. This is the last time I will defend my point about this. I may become a lurker on this site(stealing information from the educated and cry all the way to the bank) Thanks again to you parrot head and to all those helpful souls on this (the best) site. Mayor aka JJ Lot of Love to all......:glasses: | |

Rep Power: 22 | Re: Adding Pro Sun bed to Hair salon The size or the number of beds a salon has does not determine the professionalism of a salon. I've seen salons that had 15 beds that were a total mess and I've seen salons with a few beds that were so clean you could eat off the floor. Don't get me wrong, a hair salon with say 4 chairs and 4 or 5 tanning beds that are well maintained, would be good viable competition. I'm sure they would be considered professionals. Its these places that have one or two 24 lamp (made for home use) dirty beds stuck back in the corner collecting dust bunnys that hurt our business. And Mayor, please don't become a lurker. You made some good points and your insight and thoughts are welcomed on these forums. |

As for the people that go to these backroom tanneries that don't have new lamps and have cracked acrylics that you have to clean before you lay down in it, I don't really want their nasty butts in my beds anyway.

If we all agreed, this would be a really boring place.

Rep Power: 107 | Re: Adding Pro Sun bed to Hair salon Alls I knows is this. Locally, every graduate from Upstairs Hair Cutters Academy has to open another hair salon (we have over 44 of them listed in the yellowpages) and they all have the "need" to add a tanning bed or two. Now is that because they wanna serve the tanning public to the fullest? No. It's cause it's more money. I think I might just go out and get some used hair salon stuff and start charging 2 bux for all your cuts. And let's not even go into some of these chair renters selling tanning lotions for a few bucks above cost cause they can!! since when is renting a chair make you a business? Are they reporting these sales? And so on. |
