Rep Power: 20 | Base Bed Standard On many occasions I have expressed my opinion regarding equipment mix and it's importance for maximizing potential income. Today I would like to address base beds. While there are many opposing views as to the proper % of base equipment required for a salon, I am sure the experts will agree that today's standard for base equipment is a 32 lamp 100 watt system without facials. A system smaller than this will cost you a great deal of income because you can't compete at an established level. Larger than this or adding facials is a waste of money because it will not increase value membership or base equipment sales and will also reduce up-grade sales. Do not let distributors sell you base equipment smaller than 32 lamps, and never buy used base equipment that is smaller than 32 lamps because it is a great deal. that is why there are so many used small tanning beds, they are below market standard. You have much more flexibility when it comes to up-grade choices. While I have a very strong opinion that there are only three true levels of UV equipment but that is another discussion. |

Rep Power: 27 | Re: Base Bed Standard i have to disa gree with you.... i have a 28 bulb base beds... we maintain our equipment and we have a large clientel that use it and are happy with their results, plsu our level 2 is a 30 bulb with and without facials... .... So it does depend on your market and price... OUr monthly packages start at $50 ... and I am not going out of business... IMO its a combination of your market, prices, clientel and maintence of equipment.....

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Base Bed Standard Yes, we have three 28 bulb 3 facial bulb beds. They are not new by no means but we keep them well maintained and put good bulbs in them. To me thats what matters most of the time, you can have a not so state of the art bed, but put great bulbs in them. And you can have a state of the art bed and put bad bulbs in them. Does depend on alot of factors though |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Base Bed Standard Your Market determines your base beds there is no other rule than that. However 28-38 lamp base beds are the model guidelines for this. If you are in a market that demads 38 lamp base beds with 3 facials and everyone in that market is utilzing such systems in a market size of 2 million people. I wish you luck in putting in 32 lamp size beds and smaller. There are markets that require 28 lamp base beds no facials and you can utlize them in this market. However in todays current situations I will agree with Steve that you should not use anything smaller then a 32 lamp base beds. However if your market demands a larger system such as 38 lamps 3 face tanners I would go with this. |

Rep Power: 18 | Re: Base Bed Standard I have a question about base beds. If I am going with 2 32 lamp beds at 100 watts, would it not be good to have facials in them? Will it take away from my other bed? |
