Rep Power: 20 | New Salon... before mine Well someone beat me to the punch, I chose a location for my salon and I am still waiting on the the brand new retail center to open. Lease has been signed, equipment has been ordered and wouldn't you know another salon has popped up before me! We will be just a short distance less than 5 miles away! CRAP! They will probably be equally disappointed when I open! Oh well, what can you do! I am sure that this has happened to others in the past. Luckily we are the one of the fastest growing cities in the nation and we all can't service everyone ( as much as we would like to). I am still looking at great demographics in my area and I am not going to get down in the dumps about it, but ****! |

Don't just check on the retail spots YOU like, but call around to the others as well to see if they have any tanning "commitments" yet. They'll have the "edge" of getting to market sooner. Be prepared to open in a splashy way to get the attention on your place. |

Rep Power: 27 | Re: New Salon... before mine Don't worry about 5 miles... Most people will visit a salon in a 3 mile radius. I have one two-tenths a mile from me and then about 4 within a 3-4 mile radius. We are still going strong. Up 25% YTD |

Rep Power: 20 | Re: New Salon... before mine Thanks for the upbeat attitudes! I will be checking them out as soon as I can! I am happy with my bed selections and I have 2 empty rooms forn additions this spring, I am planning on a HPB if the funds are there or I will lease it. I haven't heard anything from my distributor, that would suck if he is the same one! I am not sure if they are new like me or an expansion from a nearby city. Actually there are now 4 on that main blvd. I am the next major blvd over with easier freeway access lots of traffic and I have a stoplight at my intersection. No salons on my blvd as of yet, higher end neighborhood with HOA's and plenty of stay home mommies (I was one of them). |
