You are guys are so helpful.......here's the deal......my first step was that I saw this location and saw a need, so I got my hands on some demographic info and was very right about the need for tanning in this area based on the demographic. I still feel very strongly that there is a need. The location had tanning salon written all over it because about 10 years ago it was a tanning salon (but that was before this area was even growing) and the owners of it stayed open for less than a season. Anyway, it was on to the next step of finding out info about beds, etc. That is where mastertanning came into play. I went online and was looking at different websites for tanning equipment, beds etc. Well, everytime I do a search mastertanning is always on the top or very close to the top of the list, so I did some checking into them. In fact, I have worked quite extensively with a man there, but my thing is, he's giving me all kinds of advice on opening a salon and how great it will be, etc etc etc, but the thing is......HE IS WANTING TO SELL ME EQUIPMENT. I mean he has sent me everything I have asked for and more......break even analysis, demographics, catalogs, you name it. After looking at all of this and getting his prices on beds that I am looking at I went online and pulled up other companies that sold the exact same beds and saw that their prices were much higher. I have met with several contractors and electricians regarding the buid out of this location as well as what will be done electrically and gotten several quotes. I was to the point that all I had to do is secure the location, order the beds and off I go (oh and I needs a salon name).......anyway, in searching online for some names, I came across another website similar to this that was a tanning forum, but it focused mostly on tanners and not the people running the company, so I thought there must be other sites like that out here and I found this site. I know it's by the grace of God that I was led here because I had really only heard the input of this consultant/SALESMAN that I was working for and seriously I was painted a beautiful bed of roses regarding this business. It all boils down to this, if I can't open this business and have someone else work it the majority of the time (even though I would constantly be checking in and doing the side stuff), then I know it's not for me because my family comes first, but I also know that there is a need for this and didn't know if it could be profitable enough that I actually could open it and have my family as well. Any more advice? |
